And now that they were back and the jet lag wasn't killing her (and thank god, neither was her mother), she curled up on her bed and started making a few calls.

"Hello?" It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, so Sam was still lounging on her sofa with the cat, the paper, and a large cup of coffee.

"Hi!" Rory said, practically bouncing.

"Rory?" She double-checked the caller ID just to make sure. "How are you?"

"Yes, Rory. I'm great," she said happily. "How're you?"

And from somewhere in Massachusetts, sprawled across a sofa, John picked up the phone.

"Helloooooooooo?"

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii guess what?" Rory replied, grinning.

"How many guesses do I get?" John asked. "Cuz I can guess a lot of stuff."

"Three," she decided arbitrarily.

Anakin was being a dork. Even though he was on the other side of the room, he picked up his comlink and wrote to her:

Heard you got engaged... and then grinned.

"I am marrying the dorkiest man on this or any other planet," Rory replied, rolling her eyes at him.

"Yes," Anakin said, coming closer to steal a kiss. "No take-backs."

"Well, there goes my exit plan," she murmured.

Angel didn't look at his caller ID when he answered. If he had he might've been too broody and guilty to do anything except let it go to voicemail.

But he didn't, and didn't, and therefore replied with, "Angel."

"Hi," Rory said. She wasn't entirely sure how awkward this was going to be. "How're you?"

Angel blinked. And was quiet. Then remembered that talking was usually a thing when dealing with phone calls. "Uh. I'm... me. If you're checking."

"I wasn't, but that's good to hear," she replied, trying to keep the awkward at bay. "Doing okay?"

[kawalsky]

Kawalsky was in Colorado Springs, on his way back to Sam's place after a brief camping trip. He fished his phone out of his pocket and checked the user ID before answering. "Hey Rory, what's wrong?"

"Absolutely nothing," she assured him. "Why would anything be wrong?"

[kawalsky]

"I don't normally get random calls out of the blue from anyone anymore unless I call them first, so I figured something might be up and I might be needed. What can I say?" He grinned. "I'm good muscle, everyone knows it and I'm okay with that."

"You think we might be able to get those guns into a suit sometime in the future?" Rory asked, smiling at her phone.
