And from somewhere in Massachusetts, sprawled across a sofa, John picked up the phone.

"Helloooooooooo?"

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii guess what?" Rory replied, grinning.

"How many guesses do I get?" John asked. "Cuz I can guess a lot of stuff."

"Three," she decided arbitrarily.

"All right." John thought about it for a minute. "Shave your head?"

"Nope," she said with a grin.

"Get a new animal?" John guessed. "I know you're one of those people who can go out for a newspaper and come back with a bundle of fur."

"That's more my mom's speed," Rory admitted, her smile widening. "No."

"Did you get fifty hot dogs in a minute to become some national food eating champion?" John asked, almost hopeful on that one. That'd be cool.

"No. Do you want a hint?" she offered.

"Well, yeah, because I can keep guessing and probably be wrong for days," he said. "A good hint too. No Aeryn hints where she just glares at me, expecting me to pick up on telepathy."

"I got something sparkly," she said, beaming.

"Tiara?" John guessed. "Oh, did you go somewhere and like randomly become the princess of a country no one's heard of by accidentally hitting the real princess with a rickshaw and you had to step into her shoes so the country wouldn't go to war?"

John watched too much tv.

Rory stared at her phone.

"Hey, if it happens in movies, it could happen in real life," John said. "Okay, just tell me because now I'm thinking about princesses and rickshaw accidents and I won't be able to get off that subject."
