Stargate Wiki needs volunteers

Stargate Fan Service Announcement:

I just posted on sg1_solutions begging for more help for the Stargate Wiki.

Details here

Because there's only three of us, and after doing 63 eps of SGA and somewhere over 100 SG-1 eps, I'm getting burnt out on transcribing eps. Sigh. I'm still bound and determined to finish up every SG-1 Planet. I know they're not the ( Read more... )

Oh, man. Oh, man. I'm considering it, darn you. Let me think about it; I'll put a reminder in for early next week to let you know.

She is banned from the computer because she's been drunk emailing NPR hosts.

I ... mmmmmmaybe? I might be able to help with SGA stuff at some point, especially transcripting, but I can't even think about new projects until after the SGA Big Bang goes live. I'm a beta x3 for that, plus for an ongoing non-challenge series and a virtual season ep, so I can't begin to make new commitments before at least the challenge season ends. And I'm helping run SGA Rewatch, which I really need to actually start participating in at some point. (And I'm nibbling away at writing a vast sequel, sigh ....)

Oh, I totally understand the beta overload.

Is there an SGA rewatch happening? I know a couple people talked to redial_the_gate about scarfing the idea, but I don't think we ever learned if anything happened, at least to cross-affiliate or anything. Or maybe this is a completely different one. Hmmm. Hee.

But yes, the offer is open, so post big bang, poke me. :-D SGA stuff is woefully underrepresented.

Oh, yes, sga-rewind is up and running. (The founder launched it and asked for help; I offered, and since the founder doesn't really know LJ I ended up doing a lot of the steering. The founder is technically a mod, but for now I'm the weekly-discussion-starting mod and margarks is the fanworks and tagging mod. In other words, I get sucked in super easily! Which I why I'm making myself resist here for now. But yes, I just opened 1x05 this past Saturday; when the full series boxset releases next month, I'm planning to wait about a week for folks to receive their copies and then post an accelerated catch-up schedule, probably two a week until we synch, which will let folks who missed the launch hop in as well. It's been pretty quiet so far; I think a part of it is everyone's RL exploding, school starting, and challenge season really kicking in; I'm hoping it'll perk up when schedules clear and the folks waiting for the box set jump in. It'd help if I was commenting on eps myself ( ... )

Yeah. Some people started one, and I saw them pointing to redial for some ideas, but it wasn't the people who talked to us. I'm not sure how it's going - haven't looked over there in a while.

Well, but for the moment work is totally nuts (ugh). Just give me a little time until it gets better, but after that I am willing and happy to help out.

As soon as work stops trying to kick you, PLEASE give me a poke on anything you're interested in doing. :-D

Just poking to see if you're still interested in doing stuff with the wiki (on SG-1, SGA, or SGU). If not, s'okay too. No obligation. (just blatent begging, hee).

If work is still nuts, that's cool too.

Depending on what it is, I can help with either SG-1 or SGA, a;thought I'd prefer SGA (or at least not season 9 of SG-1!).

I can certainly do transcripts. Oh yes.

We actually need much more help with SGA--including transcripts.

Seasons 3-5 are done (it's called, what I had on tape, heh). Also the first six eps or so of Season 1. (not all are up yet, but the other transcriber and I are committed to those). And none of Season Two are done. If you're really psyched about it, email me at totaltvaddict at yahoo dot com and we can discuss how the transcript format goes (you can get somewhat of an idea looking at the setup on the page, but there's some [[ and * and '''] things in there. Hee. (It's not too bad. I mean even *I* can do a lot of it, and some things astrumporta has macroed. Woot!)

Any interest in the upcoming SGU? Heh.

There was a long time we debated even doing SGA in the wiki or whether we should stay SG-1 focused, and thus time passed and nothing was happening, so SGA people, places, technology, ships are all up for game as articles, depending on your interests. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you start with something small, as in something seen in only one or two episodes.

Eps 1-6 are out? Good! Not that I don't like them, but there are other eps I'd prefer to watch 3 times over in fits and starts of 10 seconds!

As long as I don't have to do "The Tower" - which I loathe (the history is so wrong it HURTS!) I'm happy.

I will be trying out SGU. I learned my lesson about pre-judging SG series with SGA. As far as I was concerned (having not seen ANY) it was crap. I was so very wrong!

As for articles - remember about a year ago someone wrote a long article about locations in Atlantis? That was me, and I know I mentioned the possibility of turning it into a Wiki article/s. Right now and for the upcoming future (read "until about February") I'd run screaming from the idea of doing anything with that (it needs revising and extra research and pictures), but as you say, maybe smaller articles. Maybe whales, or Janus, or Ladon Redim?

I do remember the Atlantis thing, and I was thinking it was either you and/or ultranos_fic, but I didn't want to say anything with my swiss cheese memory. :-)

Hee, you can request not to do the "Tower" (I don't blame you for running away from that one). The only SGA ep I didn't do was "Whispers" and that was because I get a bit freaky about zombie scary shows and I didn't think I could handle transcibe closeness watching. Actually...I still haven't seen that whole episode. LOL! Sorry, Carson.

Hee. Whales! That would be perfect. So would poor Ladon, but he's been in a few eps. We have a little article on Janus, but it hasn't been updated with the season five info on his lab or anything. In fact I delayed replying to double check with the girl who did that bio and she's willing to cede updating to you. Hee.
