Harry Potter and

So I finally managed to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yesterday. Yay! Yes, I went by myself. It wasn't showing much anywhere, so when I was buying my ticket from the machine and realised it was in the IMAX theatre, and cost a bit extra, I couldn't really change my mind. Still, I told myself, it just means it'll be a really big screen ( Read more... )

Sadly, one of my eyes is short-sighted, while the other is long-sighted, so the I can't really appreciate anything in 3D :(

I didn't get to see the latest Harry Potter at the movies, but I'll definitely get the DVD when it comes out.

Oh, and kudos for going to the movies by yourself ;)

I've never heard of that before! Does it make for problems - I assume they don't just balance each other out and everything's fine?

Lol. I imagine there's an optimium distance where they both work together, but I think, depending on how far away the object is, whichever is better suited takes over.

I don't normally notice, though, judging from some of my photos, I look a little odd at times ;)

That's what usually happens with me too, so now that I've broken my silly rule on not going by myself I don't have to miss out anymore! Still, I do prefer going with a mate or two.

I love seeing movies at the Imax, but the closest one is still Devonport. There has been talk for many a year about building one here (last I heard was at the old gas works) but alas, we are still waiting.....

Don't know about seeing a movie in 3D, we never got to the latest HP and it's finished here of course. We'll just have to wait until the DVD comes out.

Speaking of DVD's, we discovered how to make ours region free - by hacking it! Ant recently bought a Region 1 DVD on Ebay (because it was cheaper), we did a Google search and found the procedure to change the player. Might be worth a try on yours?

Well, it might, but the TV is the problem. I did buy a multi-region DVD player a couple of years ago, and then had to take it back because the TV wouldn't accept the different regions! But I'll take a look.

Really?! Our telly is pretty old and didn't have any trouble, but now I think about it the DVD plugs into the surround sound first so maybe that helps. Who knows.....

Huh. Do you have a link for the hacker thing? Worth giving it a shot...

Hiya! Random comment to let you know that I finally got around to coming to visit your blog (I suck at reciprocation sometimes), and you seem quite lovely, so I'm friending you back. You have no choice in the matter. ;)

I'm so glad you enjoyed HP! It's definitely my favourite book, now, and my favourite movie by far. Harry on the Felix Felicis! Oh, DanRad is just far too charming.

Was it odd, seeing it on your own? I've never been, but I sort of want to. Is it a bit like catching a plane somewhere alone? Once you've done it you realise how easy it is?

What is Scattergories? I must have heard of it, but have no clue at the moment. Or is that the one where you try and get the person to guess the word by trying to define it?

Oh, poor Leon, having the cone on the whole time! It's been ages, hasn't it? But it's good to hear he's better!

Goodness, how many questions were in that comment?!

Edit: oh, dear. Another one. But it's rhetorical! Doesn't count! Doesn't count! :D

Half-blood Prince was your favourite? God I really need to re-read that one, I couldn't remember much :( I absolutely love the potions book, though, with all of Snape's corrections - he really was a genius wizard (shame about all the other stuff).

No worries - I forgot to read the rest of your comment before replying!! And I love all the Qs!

It was a bit odd, I kept thinking people were staring at me but I wasn't the only one on my own and I just had to remind myself "You aren't a self-conscious 16 year old anymore, it's not important!"

Scattergories has been around for a while. There are cards with lists of 12 things on them, 6 each so you can have 6 players, and a dice with most of the letters of the alphabet on it (except X thank god); you roll the dice to get the letter and then you have 2 or 3 mins to write down words to answer the list - like it could be "boy's name" or "hobby" and if the letter's "s" you could write "shawn" and "scrapbooking" (very popular in Canada!) - but if someone else has the same word neither of you get a point. It's very fun for us nerdy types!

Yes he's like a new cat! It's soooooooo nice having that thing off! And to put him outside again :)
