So I finally managed to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yesterday. Yay! Yes, I went by myself. It wasn't showing much anywhere, so when I was buying my ticket from the machine and realised it was in the IMAX theatre, and cost a bit extra, I couldn't really change my mind. Still, I told myself, it just means it'll be a really big screen ( Read more... )

I love seeing movies at the Imax, but the closest one is still Devonport. There has been talk for many a year about building one here (last I heard was at the old gas works) but alas, we are still waiting.....

Don't know about seeing a movie in 3D, we never got to the latest HP and it's finished here of course. We'll just have to wait until the DVD comes out.

Speaking of DVD's, we discovered how to make ours region free - by hacking it! Ant recently bought a Region 1 DVD on Ebay (because it was cheaper), we did a Google search and found the procedure to change the player. Might be worth a try on yours?

Well, it might, but the TV is the problem. I did buy a multi-region DVD player a couple of years ago, and then had to take it back because the TV wouldn't accept the different regions! But I'll take a look.

Really?! Our telly is pretty old and didn't have any trouble, but now I think about it the DVD plugs into the surround sound first so maybe that helps. Who knows.....

Huh. Do you have a link for the hacker thing? Worth giving it a shot...

I Googled, using our DVD model in the search description and came across some sort of forum specific to our brand. eg: 'Sanyo DVD [model no.] region free', so try that with yours. Good luck!
