My brother, currently living and working in Japan, is going to Egypt soon on holiday. Lucky bugger. I've named this post in memory of one of his favourite lines from The Young Ones, which always brings him to mind for me.

Sadly, stupid people are everywhere on the internet. The "anonymous" feel, knowing you'll never have to deal with that person in real life, encourages people to let their bad behaviour out. And, well, the instant nature of the internet probably doesn't help. If they had to write out a snail mail letter, you wouldn't hear from half the kooks, but it's so easy and instant gratification on the web.

You're right - it also makes it too easy for me to respond with snarks. I've always had a policy of taking a moment, flipping to another screen to read something else, thinking about it, etc. before responding, so I didn't just say the first thing that came to my mouth/fingers (i.e. an insulting remark). I've got to the point of thinking "fuck 'em" since they're so stupid anyway.

you could get your brother to shout HELLO and wave in the direction of Syria when he arrives in Egypt?

My cousin is in Syria at this time.

He'll probably be too drunk to co-ordinate his arms, but we could try ;)

Does your cousin live there? Is there on business, holiday? You don't hear much about Syria...

Yeah, fuck 'em all!! Get some controversy happening, really tread on peoples toes!

It's alright, I couldn't do that either.... ! :D

Yep, those employment agencies really know how to make a dollar. When my boss decided to take me on permanent it meant that he had to pay commission to the agency - 5% of my annual wage..... before tax ($1,800). He wasn't a happy chappy.

Golly, that looks like my type of cookie! *wipes drool off keyboard*

Yeah, fuck 'em all!!

Yeah!

A commission - that's so tacky. What are you, a swanky jumper?! A Chanel dress? A car?!

Yeah I thought you'd like that - just wait till you try 'em! Oh, sorry, shouldn't be encouraging you to eat chocolate should I!

'Swanky jumper'.... I could be that...

I think I've given up hope of controlling my chocolate desires, and put it down to "the baby must need it". If only....

BTW, Cadbury has changed it's packaging. Their standard family sized blocks are now only 200g (instead of 250g) and you still pay the same price! Bastards.

I noticed that - Stacey sent us a couple of blocks and I instantly noticed the change to 200g - I thought they were over 300g before though. Must be wishful thinking. Why the cardboard packaging though? Surely that's more trees than paper?

You do get more than your fair share of wacky commentors! I think you're doing a great job in handling them.

Thanks Maria, though I think you're just being nice ;) I'm still holding back but what I really want to say to them is "what are you, an idiot? Get an education!" Since I appreciate it when people are polite, I don't want to be a hypocrite :D

Since when did being nice and being honest become mutually exclusive ;-) I completely understand the temptation - I have the same urge at times, because REALLY!! I have no problems with people liking a book I dislike or vice versa, but at least learn how to argue the POINT. Sheesh!

The cookies look amazing!

Oh and if people are pissing on your little patch of Heaven, give them the fire hose in return. (I just made that up and I quite like it.)
