Snappy Dress and My Review of 'The Fires of Pompeii'

Apr 15, 2008 18:26

OH HAPPY DAY!!! *bounces up and down* I can snap my fingers AT LAST! I have never been able to snap my fingers before in my entire life! My fingers hurt from snapping so much! *dances about, grinning madly*

Also, I now possess this amazing bright orange dress with sequins that shows off my rather attractive shoulders and collar bone. *swishes ( Read more... )

Me too!

Wait.. how is this a first date? It's the third time we've seen Donna.. and they're far from being all date-y/couple-y (well, despite everyone thinking they're married, hehe)
No, I mean, now she's oficially a Companion the Doctor takes her on a first-official-'date' or 'adventure' if you like. Donna's first TARDIS ride in Runaway Bride was a mistake and 'Partners in Crime' they ran around London. I don't view them as a couple at all!

I like Donna. Rose (though I love her) and Martha were all 'whatever you say Doctor, just tell me how high to jump and I will cause I love you and I want to have like 10,000 of your weird ass alien hybrid babies')
I concur! (Martha's badass-ness was sometimes eclipsed by her unrequited love for the Doctor. Poor dear.) I have high hopes for Donna.

I also like her logical approach to time travel. These are questions that have annoyed me too. And it's about high time we get answers other than ' ( ... )

Yay! Now I know the Doctor's real name.. I really didn't like not knowing his name, it irked me.

And how is it canon slash? What canon? Well.. okay.. those 'I can see you now' phone calls were kinda stalkerish.. and the Master DID keep the Doctor as a pet.. um.. gah.. stop trying to make me slash them!!! *hides under the bed*

Well, some people don't think it's canon ... and seeing as it's a string of codes I'm not sure I'm completely behind it either ...

And how is it canon slash? What canon?
'Canon' as is 'real' ... like Jack/Ianto, that's a canon pairing because we see them snogging and such. 'Canon' means the writers intended it to be a pairing.

What is wrong with Doctor/Master? It's a perfectly lovely pairing! (Besides the things you listed, after the Master had kept him as said kinky pet and slaughtered MILLIONS, the Doctor FORGAVE HIM and was going to, in turn KEEP HIM ON THE TARDIS. Not canon, you say? We base MYLAR on less!)

Yeah, season one had Bad Wolf, season two had torchwood, season three had Mr. Saxon ("Mr. Saxon will be very pleased to hear that.") and I am betting season four is Rose. I love the not so subtle but really vague foreshadowing and how it took me a really long time to notice it was happening.

I haven't decided my opinion on Donna yet. I'm holding off for a bit longer to see if she grows on me any more. Their bickering is a bit amusing. And I like how she stands up for herself and doesn't just let the Doctor go off on his really fast rambling rants of doom without interjecting.

I like it ... though on the 'Mr. Saxon' bit I knew it was the Master, so I squeed every time they did it in S3 ...

Me too ... plus, it took me until 'The Lazarus Experiment' to like Martha, but when I did, BOY did I LOVE Martha! Donna's casually sliding in I think ...

I've been watching S2 with my friend and everytime they say torchwood I'm like, "oooo foreshadowing."
Yeah I didn't like Martha at first either. I was still bitter about the lose of Rose. It was like when I switched from Nine to Ten. "Who is this person? What's going on? Blarg." Then I slowly realized, "Oh snap badass."

Martha was what a Companion should do, that is, earn the title of 'Companion.' With Rose the Doctor so desperately needed somone, ANYONE, that he grabbed her hand and that was that. With Martha it took longer. Donna is going faster than Martha but just a bit slower than Rose, because the Doctor's been devastated AGAIN. This time, however, it wasn't the Time War, it was 'loosing' what he thought might be his salvation. Thankfully the Master's coming back someday, so we don't have to worry, but still ...

Took a while on this one because I just got round to seeing "Fires of Pompeii" last night.
'S ok!

Fellow gamer-geek! Member of the sisterhood!
I haven't played in AGES, but I still have the stuff kicking around ... our DM moved, you see, and we haven't gotten back together in ages ...

So much of what you said this time was just yes, yes, yes!
I love that we agree on so much ...

Interesting thing about Donna is that in her insistence on the Doctor recognizing the people who are dying, she's extremely reminiscent of one of the very first companions, Barbara--the woman who is in fact responsible for the Doctor being who we've come to know him as.
Wow ... I think I saw a few of the very first episodes ... Barbara (and mostly Ian) annoyed me to no end ... I guess the Doctor needs another Barbara!

And Donna hitting that lever with him made me instantly fall in love with her. She's not a kid, like Rose or Martha.I KNOW! I gasped out loud when I saw that. And, awesome and occasionally badass as they are, Rose and Martha are, deep down, ( ... )

Names are boxes.
But you can travel with a box ... you can think OUTSIDE the box ... little kids have more fun with the box than the toy ...

If he was "Theta Sigma AlphaKappaPhiRho," the response might be, "That's a funny name, but I can't say I know the gentleman."
Now I've got that damn Greek Letter song stuck in my head ...

the Doctor is too big to be contained by a single name (bigger on the inside, we like to say 'round these parts).
Very true!

Because Third Doctor is not the same man as Sixth Doctor. Should they even share the same name?Since I still don't know the old Doctors very well, I'll use my own comparison: he transition from Nine to Ten felt like a punch in the gut to me. They're just so ... 'different' isn't fitting enough of a word. Nine was post-Time-War Doctor, Ten is what happened because Rose led Nine away from the abyss. No wonder he's suddenly so chipper and ADHD, it's like everything's in COLOR again. Kinda like the new medication my dad's on. He's depressed, and the doctor finally found the right stuff, and ( ... )
