So. I pretty much love this. Love Loki's scheming and the way his mind works, and that he got so deep into his schemes that he became a player instead of the composer. Love that he could see the parts of Jane that even Jane herself couldn't, and that those things are what attracted him (besides the aether, and those things amplified by the aether).

I'm usually into Loki/Darcy, but I love how you twisted and turned and made this work. It's dark and twisty and wonderful.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks :D It's always hard to tell how much of Loki's schemes are planned out in advance, and how much is moment to moment decision-making based on whatever he feels like doing at the time. I'm not sure Loki knows, either, because that is most definitely the way Tom Hiddleston plays him. But, yes, even before TDW it seemed to me that Jane had certain aspects that would intrigue Loki, like the fact that hitting a man with a car only mattered insomuch as it interfered with her data collection.

Glad you liked :) I've never read Tasertricks; people tell me it's good!

Yeah, I don't think he knows. I like the way Tom Hiddleston plays him. Very nuanced. He's every inch the villain... and yet, he cares and is broken in his own way, and that makes him sympathetic in a way that the Big Bads are not. Loki exists in the grey areas, and tends toward the darkness. And then on top of that he's all mischief and all schemes and all opportunistic, and it makes for a really exciting character.

like the fact that hitting a man with a car only mattered insomuch as it interfered with her data collection.

I'd forgotten that! She's the kind of person that could go either way and it would really depend on the influences in her life -- which is how you played it :D

If you only ever read one Loki/Darcy thing, ever, you MUST read The Kink Meme Made Them Do It by lunik_the_bard. I recently rec'd it on my LJ with this commentary (and coincidentally, recently rec'd this story on my LJ too, and am so proud of all my friends who came here, read and commented. *showers them with cookies*):

This is the first Loki/Jane I've read, and I can't wait to find more. I really like this, how true to Loki you kept the character from what we've seen in the movies and how he so expertly twists Jane. Wonderful!

Thank you! The Lokane fandom is small but talented; AO3 is probably the best place to start your search. Glad to hear you felt it was in character, because Loki characterization is a bit of a trick ;) Yay!
