I finished Deathly Hallows last night.
WOW.
I will say this. I WOULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ENDING.
I was so afraid that Harry would die throughout this entire book it wasn't even funny. I really did think Jo was going to kill him. I AM SO GLAD I WAS WRONG.

I posted a string of reactions, right after I read it, here.
Regarding Snape's death, I thought it was ironic that he died in the place where James Potter saved him from a werewolf, but where Harry Potter couldn't save him from a snake. His final line has multiple meanings: to look at who he really was and who Dumbledore had been to Snape via the memories; to look at him so Snape could see an echo of Lily's eyes; and so that Snape could see the person he's built his adult life around, in spite of his complex feelings toward Harry.
Snape's memories showed me new things about James Potter: if James knew Severus and Lily were best friends, of course he taunted him more, and of course he saved him from going into the Shrieking Shack. We never get enough on why Lily changed her mind about James, but hey, we don't get to see lots of character action beyond Harry's main story ( ... )
