Before the 8th Doctor, there was much ambiguity and mystery. I watched various seasons since 1979 and never had a reason to think about romantic relationships for the Doctor.

Mom mentioned that they changed an awful lot for the new series. I think they wanted to make him more human. Just from what I remember of what Mom showed me when I was a kid, I can tell that they are putting a lot more emphasis on him, as a person/Time Lord. It's a change. Not bad or good, but this new series is a completely different animal.

Which Star Wars books are you reading? I haven't read any, though I've had Timothy Zahn's recommended to me by a cyber-friend in Finland.

There are advertisements in the front of one of my new ones for Zahn's books. ^^

I have read the Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover (I loved it!), and I am about to get into The New Rebellion by Kristine Kathryn, and I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole. Both look good. ^^

And yes, making The Doctor more human is the problem for some longtime fans, what with him being an alien and all. There's a lot of online wank between Rose-shippers and well, other fans. I avoid them all.

The only person I love more is the Doctor. And, yeah, the ending of Torchwood's first season was just... o_O MADE ME SQUEE. Tonight's new Who ep was the RETURN OF JACK. I hope you watch it soon. (And, John Barrowman, who plays Jack, does Broadway. So, he sings. I have one of his CDs. I'll get it to you somehow. He's AMAZINGLY SEXY. Too bad he's gay.)
