Right.  So the insomnia still hasn't gone away, but that's good news for anyone who wanted to read the next bit of that damned Highlander AU.  Which I'm now calling Shades and Echoes.  There's a reason behind it, but don't expect coherency from a woman whose only sleep in the past 36 hours took place on a flight from D.C. to L.A.  Apologies to ( Read more... )

I just love how Methos thinks of Adam almost like a seperate person.

His displeasure with Mac is such fun!

I've always gotten the sense that Methos considers Adam to be a person in his own right. He probably does that with most of his long-term identities.

So glad you're enjoying the story!

It occurs to me that Methis isn't protesting as much as he should XD

Well, he is pretending to be Adam Pierson, Overwhelmed New Immortal (tm). Canon!Methos gets away with a good deal of complaining simply by virtue of being Methos -- but Adam Pierson probably wouldn't be extended the same tolerance.

I'm really enjoying the story so far, particularly the byplay with Amanda. She's going to have so much fun with this...

I'm also having fun picturing what they all would have been wearing (and what Amanda's hair must have looked like!) in 1986. :)

I'm glad you're enjoying it! And yeah, Amanda's been cackling evilly somewhere in the back of my brain ever since I started this fic. :)

As far as the clothes go... Adam Pierson's probably been a jeans and sweater kind of guy since his inception -- and Amanda was probably tempted by the spandex but eventually decided against it. The Eighties were so *tacky* -- though if anyone could look good in that sort of gear, it would be Amanda. Still, the mental images are great.

I suppose she probably never went in for the side ponytail, more's the pity. :)

...she probably never crimped her hair, either. Or teased her bangs.

oh, these last two chapters have been fun (thanks for the sword pic!).

Definitely like Joe & Don's emphatic response that Adam *will* train with Duncan -- two anxious Watchers with a fledgling Immie *grin* Wonder if they expect Duncan to teach Adam ethics too?

Good meeting with Darius -- nice insights into their relationship.

Ah, but the nervous Watchers are *nothing* compared to Mother Duncan -- poor Adam won't be able to breathe with Duncan around him. Loved, loved, loved Amanda's reaction to exercising!Adam -- bet she could barely contain her laughter.

Glad you're still enjoying it! (and I just thought that pic was cool. you're most welcome)

I think that Methos is about to find out the downside of being Adam. Coming across as harmless is all well and good -- until people start playing mother hen when they think you're in danger.

And yeah, Amanda's having a little too much fun with the whole situation. I'm sure Methos is already planning some sort of revenge.

Revenge? I would adore some Methos vs. Amanda revenge. (Okay, I admit it, I'm hooked any time Methos gets off the couch and causes mischief or, better yet, malice aforethought.)

Nice little opening salvo there, him not playing Adam off as vulnerable to Amanda's charms.

And I agree with other commenters -- your characterizations are just perfect, down to Methos' take on how Adam would react.

"I was sleeping, actually," Methos snapped, wishing that he could afford to give MacLeod a taste of what he'd actually rousted out of bed.

I don't have words for how much I enjoy this line.

**Goes especially attentive and curious at M's reaction to the sword** Is it Adam reacting to being handed a live weapon? Is the sword one that M used to own (or knows who did?) Hmmmm.

Love the tension between Methos being Methos and Methos being Adam. I really like that Adam is finding ways to push back at Mac that are in character for *both* M & A. I agree that Methos probably thinks of all his long-term personas as real people -- much better to live them seamlessly and without doing things that make people wonder.

Amanda is having Way Too Much Fun, isn't she?

How *is* M going to handle the whole Watcher thing? Really looking forward to that.

Actually, I think Methos was just appalled that Duncan handed him a live blade before picking one up himself. He's probably wondering how in the hell the Highlander's managed to survive for so long.

Glad the juxtaposition between Methos and Adam is working for you. It's a tricky line to walk.

And yes, Amanda is having way too much fun. She really should remember who she's laughing at...
