Highlander/Anita Blake crossover

Jul 31, 2007 23:31

In addition to the many, many other things I'm trying to write, there is the Highlander/Anita Blake crossover in which Methos meets Edward - because the idea of Death meeting Death is just really fucking cool, and I really want to read this story, but no-one's written it, so I'm going to do it myself.  (I may need to lay off the caffeine.)

Here's ( Read more... )

When I first saw this entry (before following the cut) I thought it might be a continuation of your previous Anita Blake/Highlander crossover thingy. I like how Methos tells Edward how he can die, and yet doesn't.
But this storyline has promise. Interesting to see how it works out, who would know that Adam Pierson is dangerous enough to be a risk to an assassin of Edward's level?

I'm not sure if it would be someone who knew that he was dangerous, or just someone who knew that he was Immortal. After all, a corpse coming back to life would be pretty damned dangerous if it's unexpected, even for someone as good as Edward -- especially as it can be assumed that the average Immortal is a trained warrior.

It would have to be someone after Edward, though. If they were after Methos for being Methos, they'd have made sure that Edward took his head off. Whoever it is will be very, very unhappy when the boys catch up with them, though.

I really love what you've written so far, putting these two men together, who have so much in common, aside from being Death and being an enigma to their friends. Their characterization is also very well done, Methos' extreme paranoia (heh, a garrote hidden in his collar!) and Edward's professionalism and composed attitude. Looking forward to seeing how this new partnership will progress.

I'm glad you liked it!

(I will admit that I swiped the garrote idea from one of the Anita Blake books. It's one of Edward's tricks.) :)

Chapter 2 is already in progress.

The garrote is a stand-out part of this -- and I can *so* *see* Methos carrying one.

I haven't read a word of Anita Blake, but I like Edward even without. -- Though your comment about him carrying a garrote makes him finding it make more sense.

I am very much looking forward to more of this!

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

As far as the Anita-verse goes, all you really need to know is that vampires, lycanthropes, etc. are real and recognized legally by society, that Anita is a vampire executioner (hunts them when they break the law), and that Edward is a professional assassin who started killing supernatural creatures when killing normal humans became too easy for him. I'm thinking that someone offered him a lot of money to go after Adam Pierson; otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered.

Excuse me for a second: *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

OMG! I am so excited to read this! I've bookmarked it and will return to it tonight, oh yes, I most definitely will. Stupid work getting in the way of important things... like Edward. And Methos.

Finally! I finally found time to read this! It was sooooo good! So worth the wait! And I see chapter 2 coming up. wheee!

A few things I really liked:

1. Edward. Yes, I'm a HUGE Edward fan, thus the squeeing of before. You nailed his personality. I like that he's not afraid of Methos. I like that he took Methos down with apparently NO effort at first. I love that he searched and found all the weapons.

2. The "meet" was duly impressive! You have a real knack for fight scenes! I hope to see more. The fight to the draw was perfect.

3. The assessment of the situation and the set up of the plot was excellently done. I'm hooked. I can't wait to see who was stupid enough to try and kill Edward. And who was stupid enough to suggest Methos as a good starting point.

4. The fusion gave me chills. I *love* the idea that Methos was once Death and that Edward has inherited his title. Brilliant idea and perfect execution.

Now... on for more goodness!
