"Hello," said Fraser to the young man in the alley. "Are you enjoying a game of Moose Call?"

Joe tried to answer, but all that came out was some garbled garbage.

Eventually he managed to spit out the sock, and if he hadn't been blindfolded he'd have been glaring. "What? No. Not... playing anything. Could you maybe... Oh, I don't know, untie me maybe? That would be fantastic."

"Certainly." Fraser dropped into a crouch, pausing just as his hands reached the young man's bonds. "Are you certain you wouldn't like to find your own way out of this?" His father would say it built character, which was precisely why Fraser avoided saying so now. "You'll find if you contort your arms just right, they'll be free in a jiffy."

"What? I just got knocked out and left tied up in an ally," Joe said, trying to turn over. "I don't want to contort if there is someone who can untie me. Do you think this is funny or something?"

The thud hadn't bothered her much. She'd been jacked in for a while, stealing a line from the squat she was at, just playing around. It wasn't until she unplugged and heard the scuffling and struggling that she crept slowly to investigate.

The girl reached down and pulled away the gag first, then jumped back.

"Helps you?" came a soft, raspy voice. She didn't want him touching her, so distance was good.

Joe looked up. Or, well, he would have looked up if he hadn't been blindfolded. The voice was female, young sounding, and Joe nodded.

"Uh... yes?" he replied, not sure if that was some sort of trick question. "Help is good, I could totally use some help."

His mouth was all dry and cottony... and there was a weird aftertaste. Like laundry powder or something equally not-made-for-consumption-ish.

"Don't touch her," the voice replied, then she wiggled her fingers in and pulled the blindfold away and started to work on the one on his wrists. "She might take a long time. Real knots are hard," she said, not looking at him, the chrome in her temple gleaming bright in the low light.

"Touch who?" Joe asked, trying to keep still so she could work on the knots.
