Working undercover was one of the Hardy boys' specialities, but after over three hours of no action, they were nearly ready to give up. Stepping out of a darkened corridor, Spike brushed past the boy on his way to the stairs, giving him a disinterested once-over and making no effort to hide his amusement.

"Isn't it past your bedtime?"

Joe turned his head just long enough to give the stranger a dirty look, and then quickly peeked around the corner again... Only to find that the person he'd been watching was gone.

"Bedtime, very funny," he said irritably, shoving away from the wall and heading down the corridor in hopes of finding a clue as to which door they were behind.

Standing at the end of the corridor, Spike leaned casually against the wall, head cocked to watch the boy's progress. Watching him hop around playing little detective in training was about as much entertainment as Spike'd had in weeks.

"You do realize that you stick out in this place like a bloody half-naked Indivar in the middle of a Tifton knitting club," he called, patting down his pockets for a smoke.

"If you're looking for the bloke with the suitcase, he's in room four. He's always in room four. Must be all the pastels."

"What's his name?" Joe asked, ignoring the insults and not letting his mind wander off to the bizarre image the man had offered up.

He walked over to the door in question and pulled a small listening device out of his pocket.
