I've never liked these fancy fucking yuppie parties. All the glitz and the money and the fucking pretentious assholes pretending like they're so fucking cool just 'cause they crawled out from under their rock one night and decided to live a little.

That said, I was just bored enough to want to get drunk, and now I'm just drunk enough to sorta be having a good time. My 'costume' isn't much more than a black coat and black pants with a cheap plastic half-mask that Wendy had stashed in her room from some party in our building a few years back. There's some guy that's been eying me all night, and some girl in the back that's been watching me for just as long. The girl, I could do without, but... Hell, maybe this night isn't such a waste after all.

Logan had the uncanny ability of looking both disheveled and dashing at the same time, and he had a sort of goofy smile on his face as he sat himself down next to Neil. His mask was crooked and his shirt was untucked, and the pink smear of lipstick that trailed up his freshly shaven cheek seemed to only add to his look.

"I love parties," he said cheerfully.

Blinking and tearing my eyes away from the guy at the other end of the bar, I let out a breathless laugh, reaching out to straighten his mask and brush my thumb along his smooth jaw.

"Yeah, I noticed," I grin, smudging the lipstick on his cheek with my thumb, "Looks like you've been having a hell of a time."

"Chicks love masks," Logan shrugged, leaning into the touch a little and then catching Neil's wrist and tugging him closer. "I'm having even more fun now though," he grinned.

The shuttle in from the outer pocket that morning brought in an entire clan of D'Angeline gypsies, planetside for their annual supply run and shopping trip. The D'Angelines had been interbreeding with Indivar and Amrit for generations, and Spike found, with a kind of pure, blissful relief, that the mix was enough to fool Mirandian technology.

He'd left the girl in an alley, the life draining out of her, not much older than he'd been when he'd first been found... been made into the man he was today. The bar was packed, and no one seemed to notice when he licked the last traces of blood off of his lips, adjusting his silver mask and melting into the crowd.

The top hat slid down awkwardly on his head, and Joe muttered a little as he yanked it off and sat it down on the table in front of himself. "This stuff doesn't even fit," he complained ( ... )

She'd stolen the dress from a high end shop in upper New Tokyo, but the mask was her own. ...Probably. Actually, she couldn't remember where she'd gotten the mask from, but it had been in her closet.

The dress was gold, the bodice covered in tiny shimmery sequins and the bottom all lovely and puffed out like a shiny gold dusted cloud. It made Zu feel like some sort of princess, and she curtsied a little at the bouncer before giving him a wink from behind her mask and rushing inside to the party.
