My parents decided to come hang out for a while today & do laundry at my house like I used to do them, back before I owned a washer (theirs is currently busted). So they did; we talked about various things (wedding) while they were here and generally got along well. you can get Mexican Cokes at a few restaurants around town (or could six years ago) and they have sugar as well (or they did six years ago).

But I'm trying to use this as an excuse to entirely remove Coke from my life. ;-)

I will keep that in mind, though. I'd read Coke manufactured in Mexico typically uses sugar, or sometimes bizarre mixes of brown & refined sugar instead of corn syrup. But to my knowledge, I've never had Mexican Coke. (It totally sounds like we're discussing drugs.) I'm curious what that would taste like relative to the other two...

Mexican coke now all has "sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup" as the sweetener.

I heard as story I can't verify that said that all coke made up until the 80's was with sugar. When they switched to "new coke" and it was universally reviled, they switched "back" to coke classic, but this time with corn goo instead of sugar and since it had been months since anyone had had a sugar coke, nobody noticed the switch. But yeah, rumor.

I can verify personally that Throwback Mountain Dew is significantly more awesome (EXTREEEEEEEEME) than the swill they call Mountain Dew now. It's all due to the use of real sugar.
