So, with a nod and a smile, she motioned for Erik to sit, if he was so inclined. "Not at all," she told him. "I actually rather enjoy the smell."
She pulled her assortment of papers into a stack, clearing space for him on the table, which somehow seemed the polite thing to do.

Of course he thought of her in more rounded terms than that... but he did quite want to know her better. He wasn't the sort of man to form an opinion on someone just from hearing of them, even from a trusted 'friend'.
From what he knew of Iris, she thought he was hot, in Charles' words, and she was Charles' on/off lover. The man really wasn't particularly relevant with his information, especially when he'd imbibed.
Erik sat, joining her and crossing his legs over, just relaxing and having a few leisurely drags.
"Gin? I'd say you were a Gin Girl. A little too refined and ladylike for Vodka, though perhaps you have a rebellious streak. Ought I call you 'Comrade', or 'Madam'?"He spoke in reference to her glass. He'd surmised it was one of the two... he'd be altogether shocked if she said she was drinking water. From a glass. ( ... )

She bent down briefly to pick up the bottle of gin and set it on the table. It was her way of playing the "responsible" adult, keeping the liquor out of sight of the younger residents. Not that she had any illusions that it was effective, but at least that way she couldn't be openly blamed for corrupting the youth.
"I'm afraid I don't have a second glass," she said by way of apology. "But you're more than welcome to it. Assuming it's not too posh for your tastes."
