Okay!  That was...weird.  Cool, but weird.

So, roommate is moving in today, so I went into her room just to clear a few of my things out, and check on stuff.  Just to set the scene:  The (rather heavy) door has been closed for a few days.  The window is open; it's one of those push-out ones that hinges on top.  The actual 'open' part is a good 6'5" ( Read more... )

there are more things in heaven and eart, cat

Cats are surprisingly good at opening heavy doors that are only the slightest bit ajar, but I'm going to go with magic instead. I'd have said cats are weird but that would increase the likelihood of getting mauled in my sleep by my cat. *g*

Huh, that might be it. The door was closed, but not latched, if that makes sense -- just pressure would open it. Which still leads to the mystery of how the creature got into the flat in the first place, but that's got a few more possiblities :)

Cats *are* weird. This one's quite the little lovebug, though.

Cats can also jump ridiculously high. And they are crafty little bastards - I knew one who managed to use her paw to nudge open a door that was actually latched shut.

I had a cat once who could open doors--she figured out the two-paws-on-either-side-of-the-knob trick.

Or possibly you have Teleporter Cat. In UR flat, messin with UR mind.

Dude, I dreamed that the cat was in my room last night. I'm going with teleporter-kitty.

(If it mayyyybe wanted to sneak in and mayyyybe wanted to snuggle on my bed while I had a mug of tea and a book, I wouldn't be averse. Do you hear that, mysterious ghosty cat?)

A window that's 6 feet up shouldn't stop a determined kitty. I used to have a cat who could levitate to the top of a refrigerator.

Yep. I have the same window in my room, and after examining it, it's not impossible that she stood on a little ledge, took a leap up, managed to balance on the frame, and went through the window that way.

Man, I love cats :)
