Oh, this is perfect. It just feels like spot-on Poke. I love how you sketch in a lot of implications with just a few words, and really add a lot of depth to him with just this one scene.

poke is the made of awesome and there should be so many more fics about him. i feel we are in agreement on this fact.

i loved the bit in miniseries (or it might have been the book. perhaps i need to do a rewatch) where poke mentions wanting to keep his family separate, that they don't belong in the war, and it really made me want to know how poke would react coming home to them, because you know he still carries a bit of the war with him.
