Gas stations and scars and memes - oh, no, not again.

I am suddenly in charge of a massive (1,000 objects) QC project, so I'm going to be super busy for the next two weeks, as that's my timeline for completion. The third week I'm going to be down at the farm, so October is not going to be a great month for LJ entries.

Amazing. I find the weirdest things, and the best array of random foods that people might buy, including jars of pickled pig's feet and pickled eggs on the counter

If you ever get the chance to visit us, stop by the "Pisgah General Store" on your way. (I'll send directions). It's a typical redneck and Chuck county mini-grocer, but was bought a couple of years ago by a Chinese family. It's got pickled pigs feet next to the designer ginseng, and plenty of other little wonders that I'd never heard of.

I had no idea...we'll have to stop in next time we're in the area. Good Chinese groceries are tough to find...

I'm not sure I'd call it a "Good Chinese Grocery". But you should stop in sometime. It's the least scary of all of the general stores in our area - the only one I'll go into.

If you're ever in Silver Spring, there's a Han Ah Rheum on Georgia avenue that is the awesomesauce of awesome for asian food. I go there all the time for the alternative meats they sell - I use them when I do food displays at Jamestwon, because they have eel, goat, and rabbit.

So, is it cupcakes just for dinner and eat a sensible breakfast and lunch?

Or are cupcakes also the breakfast of champions, the elevensies of winners, and the brunch of the successful?
This has potential! I need batter and frosting, stat!

I plan to market different flavours of cupcakes for morning, noon, and night. For vegetables, we have zucchini cupcakes, and fruit, applesauce cupcakes.

Hell, someone managed to push a cookie diet, why not cupcakes? I'm a genius.

Perhaps breakfast muffins that happen to be sugary and chocolate?

#49 - As a Laurie I have the same problem - I get Lori. (OR vs AR) Even my own husband says it wrong. oy. SCA name is no better. German Lore is /lora/ not /lor/.

I've just about given up....

while i completely understand about mispronouncing names (how do you get genevieve from jennifer, really...) sometimes the mispronounciation is from regional accents....my northern NJ accent comes out in names mostly now, and i always say what amounts to 'lora' when i'm talking to a laura. i do the same with dorothy, who usually gets 'doorthy.' my soon-to-be in-laws say 'jan' instead of jen...they're midwestern...it's a thing...i try, but if i'm not concentrating, it happens. trust me...i see the correct spelling of your name in my head...it just doesn't come out of my mouth that way... :P

my friends mock my pronounciation of water constantly...

I don't mind regional accents; Lohra is better than Lara when it comes to trying to pronounce my name.

I should tell you the story about trying to order water in a rural South Caroloina restaurant sometime - it really needs to be told in person. :)

My sister is a Lohra (spelled Laura) and she hates being called Lara. I never really had much sympathy because no one gets my name right either. It's spelled Alana but pronounced like uh-lah-nah (not Alannis Morisette or uh-lay-na). I have a 3 correction limit, and then I give up and live with the annoyance. My last name is deceptively simple. We get very entertaining calls from telemarketers.

I'm not trying to lose weight, but will start the cupcake diet immediately!!

You know, my first and most beloved doll was named Laura.

And you'd be surprised how people mis-pronounce "Marie". No, it's not Maria. Well, yes, like Maria, but without the 'a'. No, not Maureen. Not Muriel! Nor Murry. Marie!

Damn my francophone father.

That is shocking to me. Is Marie really so hard for people? My favourite aunt was a Marie.

It must have been cupcake day yesterday. My friend in Ireland made cupcakes after work last night and another friend posted an awesome cupcake recipe online.

I don't bake and I hate store-bought cupcakes. I feel so left out. *sniffle*

(Didja get my email?)

I confess, I was so busy drawing, I did not look at my e-mail yesterday. I will do so as soon as I get home (I'm leaving work in 20 minutes).

I get the box mix, and use butter instead of vegetable oil. Since I'm not worried about preservative (heck, I'm not suppesed to be eating the thing at all), I don't care, and they taste good. :)
