To sleep, perchance to snuggle down in 600 thread count sheets...

Oh, I get away from my friends' list for a little bit (*cough*sixmonths*cough*), and I find out everyone's been sloping off to Dreamwidth or WordPress.  No worries - I'm staying here, not least because it's easier than updating my woefully in need of new stuff web site.

(Lazy?  Me?  Oh, you have no idea.)

Do you have a copy of the writeup I did on the clothes the V&A put on the Great Bed of Ware?

I have multiple books on TGOW, but no, I don't think I have your write-up. :)

One of the best eventing investments M'Lord and I made was a rope bed... SO much more comfortable, and warmer too!

Next project for me is a single pole pavilion, so thank you so much for posting your pic of the inside of your tent! I'm totally inspired to line mine now!

I don't know if this would help you, but maybe taking a look at the 17th century beds at Pennsbury Manor in Pennsylvania could be useful? The house was built in 1684, but much of the furniture is older than that. Penn's bed and the bed in the best guest room were quite elaborate, and the coverlet on the guest bed was worked with gold thread, if I recall correctly. Penn was a Quaker, but he and his wives liked luxury.

The museum workers there may be able to send you pictures if you enquire officially through Jamestown ...

I love old four-poster canopy beds. And I have (briefly) considered embroidering a counterpane or bedspread. Or bed curtains. VERY briefly. I LOVE the modern one. It looks like a hammock with a sun shade. Who makes that?
