Ah, you got back safely! ;) How did North Korea look from the southern side? ;D Remember our last conversation about a cat cafe? here is a link: http://na-go.com/index.html I wanna go~~~
OMG, let's go!!! Maybe Kohori will be up for it, too. I'm pretty busy travelling around for the 1st two weeks of August, but after that I get more time to myself. Let's fix a date!
P.S. North Korea looked pretty depressing from the other side... you could see their mountains and all the trees had been cut off for fuel. :(
15 or 16 should actually be okay! Haha, it's like the only weekend I still have free. Which day is better for you? I won't be working so it doesn't matter for me.
I did! From Jul 19-22, just four days. It was so busy. I forgot to blog about it because I've been swamped with so many things since then, moving and such. D:
I didn't even notice Lucius wasn't in the movie! I was pretty suprised they fit so much of the story into the movie unlike the past movies which skipped a lot of the important things. I was disappointed that there was no battle at Hogwarts. I was waiting for it throughout the whole movie. T_T The whole Lavender/Ron thing was so funny! I loved the pincer thing that Harry did, it was beyond adorable. The Death Eaters victoriously leaving Hogwarts with Bellatrix skipping through the Great Hall destructively. This scene was beautifully shot. I loved it. This post made me remember just how much I enjoyed the movie.
Apart from all the shoulder knocking and glaring, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Korea. I've been having this urge to attempt to learn Korean for some time now. >.
Yeah, I think this movie did a much better job of picking and choosing what should go into the movie and what shouldn't. I would've liked the battle at Hogwarts, too, though... that was basically the climax, so...
Ron did so well in this movie, haha. I've never been a HUGE Ron fan, but I really liked him here. It was overall a pretty good movie adaptation!
I wish I learned some Korean. We were 100% illiterate in that country!
The movie making people explained why they didn't have the battle at the end-- apparently it would have detracted from the end of the last movie? Because um you can only fight once? I think it sort of makes everything that happened with the DA pointless if they don't actually fight lol. But anyway I agree with you-- Harry standing around while Dumbledore died was fucking retarded, we have no idea why Snape was the Half-blood Prince, and wtf @ no Gred and Forge (I'm biased, they're my favourites). And also... where are the Weasleys going to live and have weddings now that their house is burned down? D:
It was exciting, but at the same time, it wasn't so vastly different from Japan that we got nervous about it or anything. I can see why Japanese people like going there so much. It's not TOO foreign.
What about Lord of the Rings trilogy? There was a giant battle at the climax in pretty much every single movie... Plus now we don't get to see Bill all ravaged by Greyback (actually, did we even ever SEE Bill and Fleur?). I get that Dumbledore's death is the biggest shock, but in the book, other losses start happening. The movie feels like the war hasn't really begun yet.
we have no idea why Snape was the Half-blood Prince If we were just movie watchers, we'd barely even care that Snape was the HBP.
That's a very Japanese way of thinking about a vacation xD
LOL Maybe someone should have pointed out the LotR thing to them before they made HBP. The whole end of the movie was anticlimatic IMO-- I mean it wasn't really bad, it just seems like at the end of the day it didn't get anywhere. Which is retarded because a LOT happened in HBP that will be important later. My older brother, who has never read the books, asked me after seeing it why the movie was even called "-and the Half-Blood Prince" because it was such a minor plot detail, so that tells you there's something wrong with the screenwriting ._. And no, Bill and Fleur were neither seen nor heard of. Actually wasn't the last mention of Bill in, like... PoA? To people who haven't read the books there are so many elements and people that appear to have just been thrown in as plot devices, when in fact they have massive back stories.
Yeah, I agree, it felt like it was building up to something big (i.e. that missing battle) but it never quite delivered. I bet to the people who haven't read the book, it felt like a really transitional movie.
To people who haven't read the books there are so many elements and people that appear to have just been thrown in as plot devices, when in fact they have massive back stories. I know! Like I consider Fleur and Bill to be biggish characters... Harry spends a good deal of time at her and Bill's place in book 7, so it'll be weird just having him show up at their house in the movie. Still, I thought movie 5 cut out even more important back stories and hints. Like that locket they found!
