He was eager to get up in the air, even if it meant the Athosians would not be living on Atlantis anymore. On the upside, it would give him more reason to fly out to the mainland on occasion. So, after a quick breakfast, he headed out to the Jumper Bay. He figured even if he was early he would make use of the time.

John was just finishing double-checking the second jumper he'd gotten in place for loading when he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. He exited the jumper, saw that it was Christoph, and nodded to him, feeling suddenly awkward. "Um. Hi. I'm just getting the jumpers set to be loaded and doing some basic systems checks. We don't want to load one up and then discover it's low on power after the fact."

He knew he'd have to deal with Christoph. The man was on his team, after all, so John couldn't exactly avoid him. "How... um... how have you been?"

He smiled, his final steps toward the jumper bouncy with his enthusiasm. "Pretty good, actually. Eager to get up there. How about yourself?" He would admit to some degree of disappointment, if only to himself, about how things ended up with John. But he would never admit to hurt feelings. It just wasn't productive, especially given their work relationship.

"Anything I can do to help out before the others get here?"

John shrugged at the question of how he was. He wasn't really sure what to say. What was going on with Evan sucked. He was worried about McKay's big mouth. Jackson's problems weighed heavily. Ford, Cadman, Bynum... so many of his people were suffering. But they weren't Christoph's problem.

"Well, I've still got seven jumpers to get down and run some initial checks. You could help with that," he suggested.

He noticed John didn't really answer his question, but he let it go. John would say what he wished, regardless of what anybody else asked. It was one of those things that drew Christoph to him initially, and probably also a good reason why a true relationship wouldn't work.

"Sure, we'll get done in half the time that way," he said, smiling. He looked at the first jumper John brought down. "So we're just setting them down in rows down here then?" He started to move toward the wall nearest one of the occupied platforms.
