Conn hit 'Send' on his Thoughts for the Day post and sat back, taking a sip of coffee. He'd written the post the night before, but had awoken early this morning and so decided to go to the mess hall to fix anything he hadn't noticed as he was writing it. The mess hall was still rather empty, but there was one group of scientists at another table-- ( Read more... )

There were a couple of marines ahead of them when Elizabeth and Peter came to take their places in the breakfast line, and three more came to stand behind them a moment later. Things would be picking up soon, she figured, what with the full turn-out scheduled in the jumper bay in an hour or so. It was going to be a busy day.

With that in mind, she selected a bowl of hot cereal with milk and dried fruit this morning, and found herself anticipating her repast with a considerable appetite. She glanced over at Peter as he emerged beside her, and saw that he bore on his tray a similarly hearty breakfast.

"Seems like we've both worked up an appetite," she remarked with a sly smile.

Conn had gotten up to fetch himself a muffin when they had come out of the kitchen, still fresh and warm, and had paused by the tables with the gossipers, which had silenced them for now, but he doubted he'd done any permanent good.

The flash of red caught his eye and he looked up to see Dr. Weir and Dr. Grodin getting into line. He waved at the two of them, but didn't motion them over. If they wanted to join him, they could, but he didn't want them to feel beholden to do so.

Peter's dark eyes twinkled with mischief. Leaning close he said, "Riding does build up quite an appetite." He figured nobody would understand what he meant and the images of her riding him would make his day stay very pleasant.

Don't blush... don't blush...!" Elizabeth willed herself with all her might... to no avail. Here she was, standing in full sight of the, thankfully, sparsely populated mess hall, blushing. You asked for this, she chided herself, and then considered, in for a penny, in for a pound... Then she tipped her head up and kissed Peter on the cheek.

"Where would you like to sit?" she asked smiling innocently, in spite of her blush.

Calvin wasn't really looking forward to the day ahead. He knew he wasn't good at heights, let alone deep water. He hated deep water. Being on a large city in the ocean didn't really bother him. It was solid under his feet. But he knew that flying the 'jumper, he'd be seeing the water under him, and would be praying to whatever diety was listening, that he wouldn't send the craft into the ocean, innocent Athosians dragged with him.

He didn't think he'd live that down, somehow.

Calvin wordlessly got his breakfast, ignoring the happy faces around him, and went to sit down, a nice, quiet table in the corner should do nicely for his uncertain mood.
