Day 55, early morning; mess hall; attn: whoever [F]

Conn hit 'Send' on his Thoughts for the Day post and sat back, taking a sip of coffee. He'd written the post the night before, but had awoken early this morning and so decided to go to the mess hall to fix anything he hadn't noticed as he was writing it. Peter enjoyed her blush and felt the heat of her kiss linger even after her lips left his cheek. If they were alone, he would follow up to that kiss but they were in plain view and Elizabeth was in charge. In response to her question, he looked around the mess not really seeing anyone he wanted to eat with when the reverend caught his eye. The other man seemed like a good place. After all, he'd have to behave if they sat over there. "Why don't we sit with the reverend?" he asked.

Elizabeth thought the idea a splendid one, both because it would show to anyone watching that the two of them weren't hiding from anyone -not even the base chaplain- and it would guarantee pleasant and civil breakfast conversation.

"Excellent idea," she said with a smile, and lead the way. "Good morning, Reverend," Elizabeth said when they reached his table. "Care for some company?"

"I'm always up for a bit of company, darlin'," Conn answered, nodding to Elizabeth and then Peter. "Doc Grodin. How does the mornin' find you?"

"Quite well actually, thank you for asking. How is your morning so far?" Peter asked with a smile. He sat down next to Elizabeth and readied himself for food and good conversation.

Conn hesitated. He didn't like lying, but he also didn't like ruining people's breakfast. "Well, it's been plum interestin'," he finally answered. "Let's just say I figger a strongly-worded sermon about the evils of gossip is in order."
