Elizabeth knew that the wakened-in-the-middle-of-the-night crisis adrenalin was wearing off when she realized that she was having an impromptu emergency meeting with two of her senior staff while wearing neither a scrap of makeup nor bra. She pulled her jacket shut and crossed her arms over her chest self consciously, then immediately had to lift one of her hands to cover a yawn.

"I'd suggest making up a pot of coffee," she said as she noticed Rodney catch her yawn, "but I, for one, am hoping to go back to bed for an hour or two, at least, when we're finished here."

Rodney gave her a weak smile. "Maybe something hot's not such a bad idea after all," he gave back, heavily leaning against Carson and reaching across his desk. There was a box with teabags. Carson, who realised what he was up to, grabbed the box, opened it and handed him a couple of tea bags.

Rodney took the teabags, then turned to Elizabeth. "Tea?"

"Only if there's no caffeine," Elizabeth said. "But if all you've got is black tea I'll do without. I really just want to get everyone's assessment of the situation and then go back to bed. I have a mountain of work waiting for me in the morning, and this is only going to add to it."

With a frown Rodney checked the teabags. "Well, it's labelled breakfast tea, so I assume, no tea for you," he told Elizabeth with an apologetic expression. "But I need some."

Kate hurried to the infirmary as quickly as she could which in her own opinion was still too slow. She had been so tired and sleeping so soundly that it was Adam who woke her to tell her that her radio was chirping. Sleeping his arms, the heat from his body seeping into hers made her feel safe and protected some how. The nightmares were kept away.

The on-duty nurse motioned to Carson's office, so she headed there. Elizabeth, Carson and Rodney were already there and looked similar to how she felt. Because they all looked so bad, Kate didn't worry about her own disheveled appearance.

"Sorry it took me so long to get here," she apologized as she seated herself in the nearest chair.
