Rodney read the mail three times, and still wasn't sure he was able to follow everything. So the gun that had been found had been Dumais? He scratched his head, as he tried to wrap his brain around that. It was bad enough he had to find out she was pregnant and obviously hid that from her -- boyfriend, lover, whatever. Now the gun the Athosian boy had been using turned out to be hers. As if he hadn't enough other problems to deal with, Rodney thought with a sigh.

He hit the "reply" button, and quickly composed a reply.

A surveilance video of the pier or of the armoury?

Who will be punished in this case?

The doors leading out to the pier. I'm going to have to review them to see who was carrying as they were headed out who *wasn't* carrying when they headed in. Whoever that is will be our perp.

Whoever the investigation fingers. It's just the ownership avenue that's closed, not every investigative technique at our disposal. Whoever it was *will* be found, assuming he or she doesn't step forward.

Elizabeth sighed as she read Jackson's report, reflecting that no matter what he had found, there would be no easy answers. At best, the most likely explanation would be that someone had made a careless mistake that might, under other circumstances, come to nothing, or might have caused a truly horrible tragedy. What 'punishment' could possibly be appropriate for such an act ( ... )

Given that record keeping in the infirmary has likely been less than perfect recently, we can at least inquire as to what records are available, and if there are any records of who has been a patient in the infirmary since Dr Watson's time there.

Even if there are such records, however, it may not narrow our pool down very much, as a large proportion of our personnel have been through the infirmary lately.
