Knowing where Rodney had been, and what he had been doing, Radek felt a momentary rush of irritation, but tamped it down quickly. He'd had some time to think after his short conversation with Kate, and came to reflect that his volatile moods were hard on others as well as himself.

Truly, he didn't begrudge Rodney his happiness... he didn't want to anyway, and he knew Rodney meant well, and thought of himself as Radek's friend. He wanted to be a better friend to Rodney than he had been lately too, and Kate's show of trust made him think that just maybe he could be.

"Well enough," Radek said in answer to Rodney's question. "I nearly have everything prepared for the trip to the mainland... if I could only find a camera we could use."

Rodney noticed the other man hesitating before answering, but didn't consider that it could be him. He thought Radek was just way too immersed in his work, that it took him a moment to focus.

"Oh, a camera," Rodney said and scratched his head. "Don't we have one in the store room? I thought there was."

"I looked there earlier," Radek said absently, "but I had no idea where to look. Do you think you could find it? If what I have in mind for it works we would have a double redundant system to warn us of any gate activity, but I'd need a camera."

Rodney shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah," he gave back thoughtfully. Usually he hadn't thought of doing Radek's work, but he was still floating on a post-orgasmic high, and this was the perfect excuse for poking around the Ancient gizmos again. And he was anything but keen on reviewing the burst of data from the beam out. Maybe he would add that to Kavanagh's tasks, he considered. Of course, he had to have a look again, cause he was the person being responsible. Though it couldn't hurt to have someone else look at it first.

"Sure, I can have a look," he finally said.

"Thank you," Radek said, almost surprised at how obliging Rodney was, but then... of course he was in a good mood. And while it was all for the good of Atlantis and not really a personal favor at all, Rodney made it sound personal, and it felt personal too, in a nice way.

"I appreciate it," Radek finished, and meant it.
