Perna nodded. "Of course," she said. "Let me help you."
"I'm Perna," she introduced herself as she took the woman by the elbow and helped her over to sit down on the cot. She probably was in shock, Perna thought, at least she didn't seem to be injured at first sight. She could have a concussion or other internal injuries, though.
When the woman offered help and introduced herself, Lily found that she could only nod, the enormity of the situation finally hitting her. Perna took her arm, and Lily stammered out a weak thank you. The touch grounded her, but it also helped her realize just how exhausted she really was.
They reached the cot, and Lily sat down and immediately curled up on her side, looking up at Perna.
"Thank you, Perna. I--thank you." Lily's eyelids seemed to want to close on their own accord, and she let them, telling herself that this kind woman would probably understand. The last thing on Lily's mind before she fell into a deep sleep was to fret about forgetting to reciprocate Perna's introduction.
Perna watched the woman settle on the cot, curling up and falling asleep almost instantly. For now she'd let her rest, she decided. So far she seemed to be uninjured

Speaking a bit more urgently, Carson said, “Perna, I’m sending a patient who is having respiratory distress. I have gone ahead and intubated him as a precaution. Get him into x-ray to get a better image of his chest. It’s almost like part of his right lower lobe is missing.”
Perna was just watching another body carried over to the morgue, after two more survivors were being brought to the infirmary, as she received the call from Carson.
She didn't ask how such injuries were possible. Obviously something did not go right with their attempt. "Of course, I will have everything ready."
