He'd had a quick peek, hands held firmly behind his back as not to tempt himself to touch anything he shouldn't, and sat down again, reading his notes that he'd made before lunch.
The last thing he wanted, was for McKay to start again on nagging him about what had happened in the mess hall. Oh, he wanted to sort that out, but right now, getting those people out of the dart was their main task, and he had to put his personal thoughts aside.

"You were saying back in the Jumper Bay that some of the Wraith technology looked a little Ancienty," Kav started, "Perhaps there is something we could do with what we have?"

He considered the broken crystal. "How do we make sure, everybody gets beamed out in one piece. We have no idea how many of us are in there."
