Lunch should have settled him, and Radek supposed it might have save for Jackson's revelation about the prisoner in their brig... the human prisoner. Every time he thought about her he kept seeing flashes of that awful night, and he couldn't decide what was worse about it, what he remembered, or what he still could not remember.
The whole thing threatened to push him back into a hole he'd only barely clawed his way out of, and he could not bear the thought of falling back into it again.
He needed desperately to focus on something else, but didn't want Rodney, or anyone else, to see how desperate he was. It was a matter of the most profound self control that Radek hung back as they entered the lab so that Rodney could step up to the scanner first. He fidgeted when he thought Rodney's back was turned, as he waited for Rodney to tell him what it had found.
