Calvin had crashed the night before next to Chuck's bed in the infirmary, waking with a start thismorning, and spent the next few minutes making sure Chuck was comfortable before leaving for his quarters. ( Read more )
Marran hurried to where she had been told to meet Calvin to examine the Wraith Dart. She had never seen one so close before, and she had never intended nor wanted to, but Halling had assured her that there were no more Wraith in the city
( ... )
Marran shuddered. "No!" she said. "I have never wanted to be so close to a Wraith ship!"
She took a step back. "Are you sure it will not Take us as we are standing here?" She eyed it suspiciously. "Perhaps it serves them even without a living Wraith nearby?" She stepped away until her back was against the wall with Calvin between her and the ship.
Calvin looked over to the Athosian woman, now backed up against the wall, a look of fear on her face.
"The ship won't be able to be reactivated unless someone takes control of it." Kav said, walking to his laptop and turning it on, "But that's not going to happen, the Taking part, anyway." Calvin tried to reassure Marran.
"We have a lot to check and translate before that can happen anyway...I mean, the reactivation part. I'm faily certain that the dart doesn't actually Take unless it's been given a specific command."
She was only slightly reassured by Calvin's words. "You are sure?" She asked. It would not to do get too close, but the scientists did seem to know what they were doing. They had landed the city of the Ancestors after its flight between worlds. It was a thing she had never imagined seeing until it had happened. When people travelled between worlds, they stepped through the rings, they did not fly above the skies.

"So many questions," Kav said, "No. Much better, and yes he has."
Calvin turned back to the Dart, waiting until Marran came and stood beside him.
"Have you ever seen one this close before?" Calvin asked in a hushed voice, trying to keep himself from reaching out and touching the machine again.
