There wasn't much talk as they walked back to Carson's quarters. He knew the Athosians had got his surprise ready for Rodney already, and he was looking forward to seeing Rodney's reaction, but Radek was so depressed and subdued that Carson was very worried.

( He opened the door and let them in. )

"The Athosians, Rodney," Carson said, not sure what had got his lover so upset. "I asked them to find a nice big bed for me so you'd be more comfortable here." He looked into Rodney's eyes. "Are you unhappy with it?" That would be a pure disappointment, if it were the case.

Rodney visibly relaxed. He still didn't like the thought of people knowing things about his bed room. Be it the huge bed or other -- preferences.

At least the Athosians were relaxed about same sex relationships. And as long as it wasn't the guy whom he slept next to in the Athosian area during the crisis, things were mostly fine. He would never live it down if the guy told the others with a dirty smirk that it was no wonder McKay needed a bigger bed. After all McKay was virile enough to sport wood during a crisis sleeping next to a stranger.

He blushed again and squeezed Carson's hand in reply. "No," he whispered, "I, um, it's -- um, a big surprise." He grinned. "It's just a pity we can't baptise it tonight."

Carson grinned when Rodney relaxed. "I wish we could," he said. "Don't want to be disturbing poor Radek." He wondered if they'd left the box of toys under the bed. He didn't see it anywhere else in the room so he thought it was probably just left where they'd found it.

He tugged Rodney into an embrace, relaxing a bit himself. "But we'll have a lovely time tonight regardless, I promise."

Rodney sighed against Carson's chest, and tightened his arms around his shoulders. "Yeah," he whispered. "And I really, really like the bed."

Sleeping on his back again, he thought. Dinner, sex and a big bed. Life could be great if there wasn't all this other shit that came with it.

He slowly untangled from Carson's embrace. He still felt a bit uncomfortable around Radek doing this, knowing the man once fancied him. Even though he was already sleeping on the couch, facing away from them.

He really needed to talk to Carson about what Radek said during dinner. He was no shrink, no medical doctor, but he really worried for the man's sanity. "And there's something I need to talk to you about," he quietly added, throwing a worried glance over to the couch.

"Oh?" Carson sat on the bed. It was nice. Comfortable. He patted the bed next to him. "Come sit with me. We can talk."

Rodney looked worried. "Are you all right, love?"
