Pat kept busy in the infirmary, humming tunelessly to herself. There was no lack of need, even with the help from the Hoffans. And what Carson doesn’t know about my working hours won’t hurt him, she thought.

Kav moved a little faster than McKay who was on the other side of Chuck, propped up between them, stumbling a little at the added weight.

The infirmary seemed such a long way away. When Chuck had drifted to sleep, Kav was hopeful he could sleep some of his sorrow and confusion off. At the discovery that Chuck had been using pills to keep his concerntration at its strongest, the man collapsed heavily into sleep, struggling and murmering.

But when Kav tried to wake Chuck, Chuck wouldn't respond. Thank god Rodney had dropped by at that moment, and together they lifted Chuck between them and rushed toward the infirmary.

Finally they got to the infirmary, and Kav couldn't wait to find a Doctor, "We need a Doctor!" he yelled, mindless of any recovering patients around.

Rodney was panting with the effort to keep up with Kavanagh's pace. Fields was by far heavier than he would have guessed. He still had no idea what the matter was, Kavanagh had babbled some confusing stuff, and Rodney had given up trying to get answers out of the man.

This is starting to become a habit, he thought gloomily when they arrived in the infirmary. I'm spending too much time with Carson, I'm becoming a nurse myself. This was the second time that day he hauled someone's sorry arse to the infirmary, not knowing what was wrong with them.

"What's wrong?" Pat demanded as she rushed forward. She realised only at the last moment that the second man was McKay.

She didn't have time for surprises. She stepped close, trying to determine who the man was slumped between them.

"Obviously he took a nap and didn't wake up when Kavanagh tried to wake him," Rodney snarled, shifting Fields to have a better grip on him.

"He went to sleep about four hours ago, and wouldn't wake up." Kav tried to expalin, shifting to hold Chuck more firmly, he held his hand out to the Doctor, worry in his eyes, "He's been taking these. I don't know how long for."
