I keep meaning to do a 2008 fandom retrospective, but I just skimmed the stuff I wrote for mini-nano and realized that what I really want to do is talk about writing, both what I did last year and my plans for this year.
(
A brief summary of last year )

also, OMG The Obnoxious Jerks. Really, I should have expected that you had read that. I had such a huge soft spot for that book. Did you ever read Buffalo Brenda, by any chance?
And there should always be more MIT!fic.

It's pretty much always better for me to have more options rather than less, it's just the way my brain works.
I should give A Tale of Time City a re-read, definitely. The thing about the Vivian/Jonathan is that I really really really want to read it; writing it would be differently satisfying, yes, but. I'll re-read it and see if it starts anything ticking. Part of the problem is that I don't have a plot in my head for that one, just a character interaction. But that could change!
Oh, I love love love The Obnoxious Jerks, I read it over and over when I was a teenager. And it does totally make sense that we've both read it, given that I'm pretty sure we were working with the exact same libraries ( ... )

The thing about the Vivian/Jonathan is that I really really really want to read it; oh, yes, that's hard. I totally understand. Especially the bit about only having a character interaction and no plot; it's not quite enough, no matter how it feels like about to be.
Oddly, I don't think I read Obnoxious Jerks through the library -- my sister got a copy from somewhere -- but Buffalo Brenda was a library book. I've no idea how it would hold up now, but I really loved it at the time -- it's another one of those "clique of oddballs shakes up the school" stories, and, yes, there's a real buffalo.
Now if only I could finish one of the ones I have started... ...argh. right. that.
