Ahahaha! I knew I was destined for Torrid Greatness

Harlequin celebrates sixty years by taking a good-natured poke at itself.

And giving away free ebooks in the process.

I got my own issues with Big Red as a publisher, but as mainstream romance publishers go, they're much more proactive than their fellow dinosaurs when it comes to ebooks, even if they do engage in the most gawdawful DRM scheme ever ( Read more... )

Ahahaha, this is awesome!

Cowboy a Greek Adonis never thought his morning jog in the unknown reaches of Mars would draw him into a ring of cold-blooded killers. Or that one of the murder suspects would be trojanphoenix-the hopelessly romantic, half-conscious woman he found washed up on the beach… dressed in the clothes of an award-winning writer and dripping blood.

"Trust no one" was all the brainy femme fatale remembered. But as her memory of that night came back, so did an overwhelming fear and the feeling that she was in serious danger. With nowhere else to turn, she had to trust a Greek Adonis with her life. And in an unguarded moment, he seemed willing to trust her with his darkest secret.

But how long could they keep their mutual lust in check?

LOL - I came over to your LJ to take a look after seeing your comment in steamfashion, and this entry made me grin because I currently have both an ebook and a novel submitted to Harlequin Spice (well, the ebook is submitted to Spice Briefs, but same difference). AFAIA they're the best publishers to work with if what you write is erotica (or in my case, hardcore dark erotica) because they don't make you chase them for your money, and you know they're not going to suddenly drop out of business. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one!

Oooh, good luck with that! I'm published with one of the smaller epubs, but they've been a dream to work with. I circled the target with HQ for a long time with sweeter contemporaries and needed a break from the "not quite for us" go-round.

I am psyching myself up for that go-round. *sigh* This novel I'm submitting, my agent thinks it has a good chance but I'm more dubious. It's good writing but it's cross-genre crime/erotica (it's about a sociopathic assassin that has an unconventional relationship with an emotionally-damaged prostitute), which makes it more difficult. I have the sneaking suspicion that erotica publishers are going to be saying, "Well, it's a little too dark for our tastes, but thanks," and crime publishers would say, "Thanks, but this has way too much smut in it." *rueful* I wish my muses gave me more mainstream stories, LOL! Although I can't complain too much; the ebook I've submitted is pretty mainstream and vanilla, so hopefully that'll be relatively easy to get published. If Spice Briefs doesn't want it, there's lots of other ebook publishers ( ... )
