Harlequin celebrates sixty years by taking a good-natured poke at itself.

And giving away free ebooks in the process.

I got my own issues with Big Red as a publisher, but as mainstream romance publishers go, they're much more proactive than their fellow dinosaurs when it comes to ebooks, even if they do engage in the most gawdawful DRM scheme ever ( Read more... )

I am psyching myself up for that go-round. *sigh* This novel I'm submitting, my agent thinks it has a good chance but I'm more dubious. It's good writing but it's cross-genre crime/erotica (it's about a sociopathic assassin that has an unconventional relationship with an emotionally-damaged prostitute), which makes it more difficult. I have the sneaking suspicion that erotica publishers are going to be saying, "Well, it's a little too dark for our tastes, but thanks," and crime publishers would say, "Thanks, but this has way too much smut in it." *rueful* I wish my muses gave me more mainstream stories, LOL! Although I can't complain too much; the ebook I've submitted is pretty mainstream and vanilla, so hopefully that'll be relatively easy to get published. If Spice Briefs doesn't want it, there's lots of other ebook publishers. :)

May I ask which publisher you're with (mostly because if they're a dream to work with and my stuff happens to fit in their guidelines, I'd happily move them higher up the list of prospects)? If you don't want to say, that's totally cool, no worries. :)
