Finally, Adama had managed to locate the clinic. And not before long, either. He stepped slowly through the doors, supporting Laura on one side, and Moira on the other. "This looks like it," he said. "Now let's see about getting you two some help."

Bill looked a mess, with his suit covered in dust and his tie askew - but that was nothing compared with the condition of the two ladies he was supporting.

Bedside manner was hardly Charles' strong spot, but he was a few things: polite, perceptive, and patient. He did his best to offer her a comforting smile.

"I can assure you everything will be monitored, and you will be in good care. If you wish, you can opt for a local, but I worry that the pain might be too much." He wouldn't say a word about the sights of the OR.

Moira tried to smile back but it turned into more of a grimace than a smile.

Taking in a deep breath, she replied "Whatever you think is best." Moira didn't know much about non-magickal medicine.

He nodded once, trying to keep up his own reassuring smile. Seems like he and Moira were having the same problem.

He stopped her gurney towards one of the stations he had set up with the equipment and looked to the ol' gas machine. Well... it wasn't at all like he remembered it, but it didn't look like the basics had changed much. He disgused his tinkering with it as his getting the machine ready, inwardly praying to who-knows-what that someone would answer his call.

Charles always did hate being the gas-passer.

Moira should have been glad that she wasn't in as good a magickal state as she usually was or else she'd be even more terrified.

Still she got a wave of anxiety that she wasn't entirely sure was from herself, the doctor or other people in the waiting room.

"What are you doing?" Moira asked in a small voice she barely recognized as her own.

Luckily for all concerned, Adama appeared at this point. "I'm sure the doctor knows what he's doing," he told her, before looking at the man in question. "Are you Doctor Winchester?" he asked. "The nurse directed me here, said you might need a hand with...gas?"

He recognised the patient as being the girl from the bookstore. "Laura's going into surgery right now," he said to her. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm sure he does. I just wanted to know. I'm not too familiar with medicine. I'm okay, how is she doing?"

He frowned. "Then how do you normally heal yourself?" A pause. "And don't tell me it's somehow related to the moving beams and glowing rocks." That part of the whole days events, he still couldn't quite explain.

He smiled a little at the mention of Laura. "I think she'll be alright now," he said. "She had me really worried for a while. But the medics here seem competent, and I think she'll pull through."

Moira smiled not saying anything about how she healed. "Usually other people heal me."

"Good. I sincerely hope so."

At least Charles was good at putting up a front. He fiddled with the machine a bit, figuring out what each button does. "Just--I'm getting it ready," he added under his breath as the man came. He did his best to mask his sigh of relief.

Instead, he nodded to the new volunteer. Are you Doctor Winchester? "I am. A pleasure," he continued to tinker with the machine, "I'm sure ( ... )

"I think they sent me over here because I was getting in the way," he confessed to Moira. "Zak's there, so he'll keep an eye on her for me." His son seemed to like Laura, from what little he'd gathered, so he'd make sure nothing bad happened to her.

Adama nodded to the doctor. "I'm sure it's fairly straightforward to operate," he said, "but yes, I think that might be a good idea." He at least needed to know he was pressing the right kind of buttons.

Moira smiled. "Zak's lovely, from when I've met him. I, em, suppose I'm as ready as I'm going to be..." Moira trailed off trying not to think of her pain or of the impending surgery.

He nodded. "Well then, let's get this done, shall we?" He looked at Winchester for further instructions.

He had just finished placing the last of the wires to Moira -- everything would be monitored, so Charles would know when the slightest complication rose. He nodded once to his 'gas-passer', "Place the mask gently over her face, and press that button to start to administer the levels. I shall tell you when to stop."

Blues moved to Moira to try to give her one last look of reassurance. "Just close your eyes and start counting to twenty and before you realize it, it will all be over..."

Not in a bad way, Adama hoped as he dutifully followed the doctor's instructions, placing the mask over Moira's face.

"Do as the good doctor says Moira, and try to relax," he offered, making sure the mask was secure and comfortable before pressing the button the doctor indicated.

Zak had been one of the luckier ones during the earthquake. He hadn't been in anywhere dangerous, and managed to keep in one piece. Now, now he was ready for action and to help.

Where else to do that than where he knew he could help. Walking quickly, then breaking into a run, he headed for the clinic. It was also the best place to check on people. His father and brother. Kara. Moira and Laura.

Heading in, he took a headcheck and was relieved to see his father seeming to be in one piece. He came up behind him and touched his shoulder..then paused, staring at the woman who the elder Adama was watching over. Laura.
