"You said you wanted a few things." The young man reminded his companion. "I think the check out girl was wondering if we'd figure out a way to walk out with the whole isle by the time we got there!" Wes teased back, pausing a moment when he felt Dok's hand slip into his. Were his nerves really that transparent?
The thing was, even as a child Wes had never had any reason to fear the dark, or night--the darkness of space was a beauty and a wonder-- one to be treated with a healthy amount of respect, but not feared. Alucard, however...
"I know...thanks." Getting Dok back on the subject of candy was far more comforting in the long run, grinning at the idea of skeletons with manicured nails and then-- "Wait, wait, you can make pretzels from scratch?" Was there anything ( ... )

I have no intention on terrorizing the good people of this town, Master. Only... an old acquaintance from the war, hmn?
From which war?
The ex-Nazi Doktor... I will deal with him...
If you don't, I will.
Alucard would carry out his orders. However, that didn't mean that the old vampire could have a little fun while dealing with the ex-Nazi.
Alucard's reason was not to just end his master's nightmare, but to punish the doctor for what he did to the corpse of his once beloved Mina. That beautiful resplendent woman, exhumed, and researched to the point she was just a skeleton.
Revenge was a fickle bitch.

He noticed the cat just as it was jumping down and didn't think too much of it, but when it turned to direct those red eyes at them, every instance of a smile fluidly faded from his features, the light dropped from his eyes and his heart sank to his stomach.
All at once he stopped, pulling Wes to stop too. Numbness set in and caused the bag and the mold from his other hand to fall to the ground, his eyes never once leaving the animal.
There was a moment of stark silence before he spoke, his voice firm and urgent.
"Wesley. Run."

So when the cat appeared, Wes didn't pay it a second glance for two reasons--the first was that he was still distracted by the gentle squeeze to his hand and controlling the blush it brought, the second was that creatures with more than the requisite two eyes didn't phase him as much as someone raised in an era of interplanetary travel.
However, the sudden change in the silence between them from content to terrified could only mean one thing...
'Hell, and the protein decompiler isn't finished!' it was so close, too...he could see in his mind's eye mostly welded, needed only two more ( ... )
