The truth was, Dok was all too ready to leave. Unfortunately, due to the nature of his injuries and the circumstances around which he was admitted, some of the specialists seemed intent on running a few more tests. That was what he would say on the surface, anyway. While that was indeed the case, the real reason that he had stayed so long may have had something to do with the fact that he'd just now been calming down from the nightmares that bordered on night terrors. Between the memories of what happened coming back in bursts and the all-too-present worry of something happening to Wesley because of all of this, he was being closely monitored at night. Only lately had he seemed to get any better ( ... )

If Wes had the forethought to talk to the nurses anymore, he'd probably know about the nightmares--but the fact was every odd look he'd gotten for visiting so often had cut their conversation down to small talk.

She'd learned the secret of shopping with Teddy fairly quickly-- either he had to have a job, or tasks to complete, or else it had to be very, very fun. Today, she'd sent boxes of food soaring down the aisles, and he'd had to catch them by rolling the cart beneath. At least, until the manager had politely asked them to stop ( ... )

In a way, Dok was glad that they got those sorts of looks, simply because it did keep Wesley from being as informed about the situation as he would be otherwise ( ... )
