Oh, Sally. Things were about to get a whole lot weirder.

A cloud of gold, silver and white lights sparkled, and a man appeared out of thin air. He wore a cream-colored double-breasted suit and a bow tie made of shoelaces, with small white membranous wings attached to his back. He gave her a wide, white smile as piano music started up... somewhere nearby.

Then he opened his mouth and started singing.

Looks like you've lost your way
Your feet have gone astray
You're off to roam
But you're not home
Have I got a shoe for you!

Shoes that help you cross the snow...

With a snap of his fingers, Sally's boots were replaced by giant snowshoes.

Shoes that tell you where to go...

Another snap adorned the toe of each snowshoe with an oversized compass.

Now you can find
Your peace of mind!
With these shoes you can't feel low!

With a flourish, he vanished in another burst of lights.

Sally merely gaped at the random music she heard as well as the sharply dressed singing man. She couldn't believe that she was now wearing snowboots (which would've been a complete horror to try to climb down the house in but were actually oddly helpful now) and when the compasses appeared on them she wasn't sure if she was more impressed, grateful, or horrified.

When he disappeared in a burst of lights, Sally blinked. "What the sodding hell..." She took a few more steps, heading toward Main Street and glancing down at the compasses to remember which direction they were in.

"Wait!" Reid had been going to collect soil samples from the park, really, but a singing man who appeared out of nowhere to bestow shoes on a random woman on the street before disappearing in a burst of lights was enough to distract him. That was just...unreal. He hurried up to her, as fast as he could on a slippery sidewalk with his cane. "Excuse me, but you didn't know that man, did you?"

He furrowed his brow then, and pulled a copy of the map he had made out of his pocket. Yup, they were more or less in the geographical center of the extraordinary activity. And he'd just seen someone give someone shoes. Magically. No, just in a way he didn't understand yet.

Sally shook her head. "Not even a little bit. You're not going to disappear in a flash of lights, too, are you?" The English girl asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at the bloke. Sally looked over at what he had in his hands. A map? "Is that this town?" she asked, curiously.
