Johnny hadn't been able to forget about River. The young woman had intrigued him, and not just because she was like him in some mysterious way. Johnny didn't quite understand why this strange thing had happened to him, and he still didn't exactly understand the rules of it either. But River had something like it, and Johnny was curious to know more.
But that wasn't all. Johnny genuinely liked the girl, and she seemed in need of some human connection. And like it or not, they had bonded in some way. He cared about her and cared what happened to her. And he wanted to find out what kind of life she was living. The thought of offering her a home with him had crossed his mind, though he knew she probably already had a place to live. He knew she wasn't exactly in need of protection; he'd gotten the impression she could defend herself if needed. But...she needed something.
He was still thinking about this as he took the elevator down to the lobby.
