Who: Lily and D? What: Lily needs a kitty. Lily goes to inquire about a job at the pet shop When: Now! (or rather, mid-afternoon) Where: the pet shop, of course!
A tea service had already been set out, although for no one in particular. D had been keeping to himself since the...incident...and although business was steady, the days drug with no one but himself or occasionally Bingley to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with.
So when D arrived out of the back with a fruit tart in hand to see the young woman admiring one of Lela's brood he smiled.
"Welcome to the pet shop, how may I help you?" The woman struck him instantly as incredibly lonely--something behind the eyes when she looked at the kitten. Something told D she'd been a mother once...she had that air about her. "Would you care for a cup of tea while you look?"
"Oh!" Lily replied, not quite sure why she'd been startled. A year ago, she would've been on the alert for every little thing. Actually, she wouldn't have even ventured into a muggle pet shop. Especially not for a job. But it wasn't a year ago. Lily needed to stop with these remembrances. It wasn't doing her any good. She smiled at him. The smile seemed genuine even if the woman was not happy herself. "A cup of tea? Oh, I wasn't looking so much as..." Lily trailed off. She was definitely looking at the kitten. How bad of an idea would it be to - no. She came here for a reason. "I was wondering if you still had positions open. Still needed any sort of employee."
A slight frown whispered across D's features followed by a kind smile. He was wary about taking on anyone new with his father's recent inquiry, but he did still need another part time worker at least, however well River was coming along.
"As a matter of fact, I am. But you are still welcome to tea. Please, take a seat, Miss...?" Count D motioned to the over-stuffed chair Pon-chan was so fond of, which, thanks to River, was mostly fur-free. He offered her a slice of tart. "Make yourself comfortable, by all means."
"Lily Potter. But I'm more of a Mrs. than a Miss," she replied, trying to smile nonchalantly before glancing at the chair. "Thank you." Lily hesitated only a moment before sitting down in the chair. She fidgeted slightly. Was this a job interview? For someone who was so grown up (or considered herself to be), this was her first job interview since she'd gotten simple little summer jobs around Spinner's End. Lily wasn't quite nervous, but neither was she sure how exactly to proceed.
