Wisely, Moira wore a coat from the time Zak had arrived, so he hadn't seen her in her dress yet. He could however see her completely pulled back hair (something he would have to thank Lulu for later), as well as her shoes, which brought her already formidable height up a few more inches, and jewelry. The coat was longer than the dress itself. She'd kept the gift for him in her purse until later.
Lulu had taken Clarice by the arm as they had headed out. She was in a dress reminiscent of the forties with her blonde hair teased to match the correct era.
"Isn't this going to be awesome?" Lulu said to Clarice as she put some of the things she and Kaylee had baked onto a table.

And then Chuck was calling them good friends and Lulu was saying she was wonderful and Clarice didn't know what to say. Her cheeks almost matched the magenta of her hair. She busied herself arranging the table so she wouldn't have to look at anybody.

He turned back to Lulu, smiling a bit shyly, himself.
"Yeah, I figured it would probably be pretty fun. And hey, I love a costume party!" Chuck laughed.

"It's going to be lots of fun," she replied, giving Clarice a one armed hug. "It's a shame you weren't around during Halloween."

After an awkward second of silence, Chuck smiled and spoke again.
"But yeah, this should be fun! Ellie- that's my sister- made me take dancing classes with her and her boyfriend a couple of years ago. I always ended up dancing with the instructor, but I think I remember a few things! Actually..." he paused, looking at the girls, though his eyes flicked over towards the dance floor for a moment.
"Would you, ah, like to dance?" His blurted-out question was addressed to Clarice, though he quickly nodded at Lulu. "Lulu, you'll have to save one for me later." Chuck hoped all those lessons in acting confident were working, as he was slightly terrified at what he had just done.

"I'll definitely save you one for later," Lulu grinned widely with a look towards Clarice.

There was just something about Clarice that Chuck found amazing. Somehow, the purple-ness didn't really phase him at all- it was just the awe at meeting someone who was even more shy than him (and for good reason) who was actually trying to make the best of things. Also, being able to talk to someone who actually kind of understood what he'd been going through was rather amazing as well.
"I'm not making any promises that I won't step on your toes," Chuck smiled, blushing again. "But if you can take that risk, then yes, I'd like to dance."

"It's not hard, Clarice, honest, I swear you'll be fine," Lulu replied, nudging the girl towards Chuck.

"We'll figure it out," he assured her, trying to reassure himself at the same time! Fortunately, though, the song was a nice easy tempo- not too fast or slow- and Chuck thought back to the dancing lessons.
"Ok, so I know we start here-" Chuck said, speaking as much to himself as to Clarice as he placed her free hand on his shoulder, and put his free hand at her waist. "And then we step like this-" Chuck took a small step forward, waiting for Clarice to follow his lead. "And then, somehow, we are magically dancing!"

"What!?" He asked, laughing as well. "No, I mean you keep following me! Like this!" He attempted another step to the side, still smiling at Clarice.

"I'm sorry, I told you I'm not very good." But she was still smiling shyly.

After a few moments, though, he seemed to have gotten the hang of it.
"Hey, I think we are actually dancing, here," Chuck said, grinning. "Looks like we are not as hopeless as originally thought!"
