[ The video feed clicks on to reveal Robert Capa - a man in his mid-thirties with shaggy hair (still damp from the tube where he awoke) and a five o'clock shadow and narrow shoulders covered by the ship's uniform he found in the locker marked with his identifying number. His eyes, bright blue, are particularly striking in that they are wholly calm ( Read more... )

If there's any original crew, I've yet to find them. It figures.

[She mutters that last part with a bit of disdain.]

And I don't recall anything.

Nothing at all?

[ Capa presses his lips together, thoughtfully. ]

I'm being literal here, not figurative. Temporary memory gaps are one thing. Total retrograde amnesia's another.

I... [She squints.] Not like that.

[Because lying is the way to go.]

[ Not to worry, Capa's Sense Motive meter is in the actual pits. Still, he frowns ever so faintly. ]

Being disoriented's to be expected. In fact, I'd probably be more worried if we weren't.

['sup capa. have a slightly skewed, shoulders-up shot of a guy who looks to be in his earlyish twenties. with no shirt on.]

If there are any crew left, you'd think they'd have noticed us by now. It's not like we've been quiet.

[sarcasm is the best coping mechanism.]

[ Sarcasm rolls off Capa like water off the back of the duck, bro. ]

We woken en masse from a kind of stasis. It's possible the crew has too. And there's no telling how large this ship is. For all we know, we could blow a hole portside and nobody will notice.

[ A pause. ]

Not I'm suggesting that.

Oh, well. That's reassuring. [not... that he's 100% sure what 'blowing a hole portside' actually means, but it doesn't sound good.]

You'd think the crew would have some idea what's actually going on here, and nobody here seems to yet. Either the crew's not here, or they're not awake yet.

Or they're all dead. Personally, I'm kind of hoping it's not the last one.

[ Whomever you are, you are a ray of sunshine. Now if only Mace would swing by and take you off of Capa's hands. ]

If they're dead, they made a real effort collecting all of us before they died.

[She's still trying to get rid of the mild nausea she's feeling from the jump.]

I haven't seen any crew members as of yet. And to answer your second question... No, I don't remember anything. I'm not sure which point is more disconcerting.

It's possible the ship's automated, but unlikely. [ Again, Capa rubs his chin. He seems to do it whenever he thinks. A nervous tic of sorts, though he doesn't seem nervous in doing it. ] Then again, this whole scenario's pretty much blown the doors off what's likely and what's not. So foregone conclusions are off the table.

It has to at least have a captain... But if we're expected to run and pilot this thing, I think we're ill-equipped for such a challenge.

[That's something she can agree with, though, and she nods.]

How much have people explored so far?

For what it's worth, I'm an astronaut. Though the technology we've encountered so far isn't familiar. Not completely alien - I can make a few educated guesses if I had to - but nothing I'd feel comfortable operating just yet.

[ Capa shakes his head. ]

As far as I can tell, traffic's been between the medical bay and the passenger quarters. Side effects from stasis are across the board and I'm not sure anybody's ready for immediate exploration.

Given the probability that the vessel we're aboard has impacted our internal regulation, I believe we may expect the return of our mental capacities in a matter of hours.

[ Yay. A scientist. Deep down inside, Capa's actually way more relieved than his face or his tone voice indicates - which isn't a lot. ]

So, we are looking at the possibility of temporary retrograde amnesia. I'm not familiar with the kind of statis we were under, but hypothetically it's more than possible.

-you don't happen to be a doctor, are you?

[ rest assured capa, your methodical voice appearing in the midst of irritable shouting and a wall of babbling text was a hideously welcome change. for his part, spock's voice is equally even, despite the momentary pause required for him to regather his thoughts. that alone is- somewhat uncomfortable. ]

It remains my primary hypothesis. I have found that my own recollection has returned in fractions as time has elapsed, but memories significant to my relocation have yet to develop. The stasis as well remains unfamiliar to me, suffice that I have surmised it's design is intended to combat gravitational force exuded during entry to warp drive. [ there is another pause that follows, little more than a beat before he continues. ]

I am, however, not a physician. Should I infer that you require medical attention?

[ Capa listens attentively, his head nodding ever so slightly here and there as the stranger talks even though the gesture can't be seen. It's almost comforting - no, that's not quite the right word - the very particular cadence or lack thereof to the way that the man speaks. It almost reminds him of Icarus. It never occurs to Capa that might be odd. ]

The doctor's not for me, [ he says eventually. ] I'm just- trying to get my arms around what we have right now as far as resources go. Waking up from stasis wasn't exactly pleasant, and the crew hasn't shown just yet. If they're on a timer, there's no way of knowing when they'll be joining us. Though the assumption could be 'soon'.

[ Another pause follows, longer this time. ]

Warp drive, [ he tests the phrase out. ] You're familiar with that kind of technology?

Perhaps a side affect of being in a form of stasis is short term memory loss.

I'd figured it was a strong possibility. So far all indications say yes.

I do not suppose anyone has found further instructions as of yet, either. Very suspicious.

'Suspicious' makes it sound nefarious.
