[ The video feed clicks on to reveal Robert Capa - a man in his mid-thirties with shaggy hair (still damp from the tube where he awoke) and a five o'clock shadow and narrow shoulders covered by the ship's uniform he found in the locker marked with his identifying number. His eyes, bright blue, are particularly striking in that they are wholly calm ( Read more... )

Perhaps a side affect of being in a form of stasis is short term memory loss.

I'd figured it was a strong possibility. So far all indications say yes.

I do not suppose anyone has found further instructions as of yet, either. Very suspicious.

'Suspicious' makes it sound nefarious.

I cannot say I have been in a situation where suspicious atmospheres usually do not lead to nefarious schemes being implemented. Granted, I do not wish it true, but I cannot see where any of this thus far can lead to anything remotely positive at work here.

There's not enough information yet either way. Now, if that information's being withheld deliberately, then yes. Definitely suspicious. But jumping to conclusions before trying to acquire said information isn't helpful either.

I believe the phrase is "preparing for the worst." Now do not jump to conclusions about my statements either. I merely stated that I am not accustomed to an atmosphere such as this that does not lead to potential bloodshed. That does not translate to coming to a conclusion at all. It is simply being wary and cautious based on previous experiences. I claim to only be guilty of this.

Suspicious or not, I think we're still aways off from 'potential bloodshed' right now. Preparing for the worst isn't a bad contingency. But a lot of people focus on it like it's the only contingency and end up sliding from bad to worse.

Did I say that it was the only one? No, I do not believe I did. While the lecture is refreshing, it is misplaced.

It's not a lecture. They're experiential observations from one person's perspective. If you're not jumping to conclusions, then thank you, but that doesn't mean other people who are reading this aren't jumping with you.

I guarantee that anyone from my planet would already be on their guard and prepared to snarl and claw their way out before attempting a more diplomatic solution. They simply do not know any better. That is the basis of my statement, nothing more. If there are those that want to draw conclusions based on the reaction of one race, then so be it.
