[ on pops the video, and again looking into the screen is one young looking brunette. (everyone’s favorite architect) this time though, she is looking slightly happier - perhaps even more calm - as she clearly is smiling into the device. (she's trying like hell to hide her fear and she seems to be doing well okay.)

a small shrug of her shoulders, ( Read more... )

I did a bit of exploring on the other floors when we first arrived, but wasn't able to find much except for locked doors.

Is there anything that might have stood out in the design -- or maybe some obvious repetitive features throughout?

All of the floors looked the same, but I think that was just the design. Only real difference was that most of the doors were locked, but some could be opened.

Why do you ask?

Maybe.

I'm really curious as to the pattern that might actually be with these floors. Sure they might all be generic, but they're meant to serve a purpose. Having an idea of that would help us understand the ship slightly more - prevent us from getting lost and what not.

Corridors that don't lead anywhere?

[ keep cool. she can do this. ]

Yeah. I've seen it before. People design layouts all the time not filling in all the spaces yet - dead-ends.

So maybe on the ship there might be some? There are some restricted spaces after all, why not have some voids in a way. [ a beat ] I take it, you haven't come across any?

[ Capa seems to consider this. ] Granted, I've only got experience with spacecraft specific to my continuum, but the ones I've seen don't allocate space like that. The amount of effort it takes to get the ship into space and then maintain it there - everything has to be optimized to yield the most amount of benefit for the least amount of real estate and minimum weight.

Then again, I've never seen a ship like this one before. So I can't rule it out either.

[ his talking about spaceships she has her puzzled slightly, and she still needs to wrap her mind around it all. she'll just be silent for a short moment, trying to not let her mind focus on any of that though.

a small sigh can be heard coming from her then, shrugs her shoulders before speaking again. ] Would you be willing to give me details somehow from your ship perhaps? It would be nice to be able to compare the two.

They are significantly reticent to discuss much of the vessel's purpose, origin, and structural formation with the appropriated crew.

Shall I presume you have not yet sought an audience with either member directly?

No I haven't.

But I sort of figured they might be more willing to talk to you - given your, well -- given who you are. Well and the fact you clearly know a great deal about space.

Do you think you could try?

The Captain and Commander are, as it stands, unfamiliar with our parallel existences and therefore offer no distinguishable differences in interaction with our persons.

However, I believe Captain Kirk has already contacted the Commander regarding matters pertaining to the ship. I do not believe they would be averse to offering assistance where it is requested.

Oh. [ sounding slightly disappointed at that, she just goes silent a moment, as she clearly needs to think out a new plan of attack. ]

Well, I'm interested on those locked areas. If they are willing to at least give us vague details, I can perhaps get enough details from that to work with. That would be at least something to go with. I would like to get some form of semblance to this place mapped out. Soon.

This whole ship is mazelike. I've done a lot of exploring and I'm positive that I've barely scouted a fraction of what's accessible to us.

[ exactly, it seems almost like a perfect maze to her. which only leads her to believe it is some amazing architect working here.

brow arching almost hopeful, as she asks almost eager: ] Have you come across anything that seems out of place perhaps?

Everything seems out of place.

[Not what Ariadne meant, perhaps, but that's what it means for Rey.]

[ her nose crinkled slightly, nodding in understanding. she would have liked some details. but she can't assume others pick up on things like she does with that. ]

You willing to go out again?

Every ship I've ever been on has seemed like a maze at first. It's the regulation hallways that do it. How is anyone supposed to find their way around when every corridor has been designed by a committee to look exactly the same as every other corridor?

That's what I'm curious about. What exactly were they trying to accomplish with the design they have I wonder. I'm an architect (well studying to be) and the layout here has me seriously trying to find the method to it all. So it would be nice to start mapping some of this out if we could. Have you noticed anything in the repetitive nature? The amount of doors per corridor, things like that.

An architect? That sounds like it would be fascinating work.

From what I've seen, this ship is like others I've been on. They're designed more for function, not form. Regular numbers of doors at regularly-spaced intervals. Haven't you noticed that already in the passengers' quarters?

You have no idea.

Yeah. I noticed they were rather mundane for design. But I'm more curious as to how the bridge, cargo bay and others are set up. They should each serve a purpose in their own way.
