You guys were one of the top stories on CBC radio news the other day. Were you close enough to hear the "OMG WE'RE OPENING THE FLOODWAY" sirens?

No. The floodway gate is at the far south end of the city (past the Perimeter Highway), and we're at the far north end (just south of the North Perimeter).

I've seen video of them opening it, though! And they government has a live camera feed of the gates themselves.

(A side note: we always say "open the floodway" or "open the floodgates" when actually, they're raising the floodgates to prevent as much water from entering the city. The water then backs up in the channel and starts flowing into the floodway.)
