I ended up buying another Kindle ... this time at a store in the electronic "district" in Jakarta. It's definitely more pricey, but if I calculate the price of sending the broken Kindle to the U.S. (and I have to ask help for that), it will be as expensive. Plus I have to wait to get the replacement. I figure, I have been to addicted with ebooks ( Read more... )

I'm glad to hear you got a new Kindle. How much did it cost buying it here (compared to buying it abroad)?

Like I said, I'm going to buy an iPad. It's actually not for reading books... but I think I'll have fun reading e-books from there anyway. :)

The price is about 30% higher, but at the same time the seller told me that it was the cost of tax for gadgets if they were being imported. "Luxury Item Tax", he said. I believe him because I know that it's expensive to bring gadgets from abroad.

Yay, I can try your iPad :)

Glad you were able to buy a new one! And nice that you did buy a new Kindle again. I've been lately thinking of getting one but that yours broke so quickly kinda scared me off but apparently it didn't scare you so much, otherwise you might have chosen another e-reader ;)

Hopefully the cough passes!

I think a year is a life of common gadgets nowadays :). I am already too attached to it that I don't want to switch brands easily. Also becomes I read more mobi files rather than PDF. But Sony PRS is really good for PDF files. That will be my second choice if I change brands.

How could you say that? 0_0 If my gadget only lasts for a year, I'd never buy that brand again. Thankfully, mine is still going strong after two years :)

Btw, how much is the Kindle here?

That is what I feel anyway. Or maybe I abused my Kindle too much *lol*. Kindle is about 2.5 million.

No, I didn't get it. Besides, it still doesn't apply to Indonesia. I will need to send the Kindle to U.S. which is my problem in the beginning. The cost of sending it back (and get the replacement via Custom) is higher than the price of buying new one
