413. Gadget For You: Functional or Entertainment and Peer Pressure for Blackberry ...

I just got back home from 2-days out-of-town work, which involved most time on a car traveling. I arrived home last night at 10 P.M., stayed awake until past midnight, and woke up this Saturday morning around 3 A.M.; Safely to say, I will probably just spend the Saturday trying to recharge my energy because I have another project tomorrow on Sunday ( Read more... )

I only use my cellphone for making phone calls (I don't have a normal phone),texting, the reminder function and sometimes I play Suduko on it when I have to kill time somewhere but that is all. All I care about is the design and how long the akku lasts! Like you,I have my MP3 player and Laptop for other things and don't need 1000 extra functions on my cellphone :)

My current: Nokia 6300
And the one I had before (sooooo pretty *sigh*): Nokia 7250i

My cell phone's 3 or 4 years old, lol, maybe older. It's an LG, I think a V? But, as I said, an pretty outdated model. I don't use it much even for texting/calls, so it works okay for me, BUT I do really want to upgrade to an iphone because I like to streamline my technology and I especially want the 3G network for when I'm out and about (especially to look up directions on!).

But, for now, I'm content with my basic cell phone and my laptop. I don't even use my ipod or ereader much. I get lured in by shiny technology, but maybe I'm more old school than I realize . . . .

And YEAH. I do think cell phones in general have made people ruder. I used to have a friend who would regularly answer texts while we were hanging out, even once WHILE WE WERE AT A MOVIE THEATER WATCHING A MOVIE. I don't mind people answering the occasional text, but I thought she just crossed the line.

Let's see... First of all, i'm a nokia girl! I love Nokia and their cellphones. I'm truly don't want to say which cellphone i own because it's pretty embarrasing... Seriously, i have one of those first cellphones... those were all you can do is text and call. To be honest, i'm happy with it... I don't need for anything else since my music is on my mp3 player... but it would be nice to connect my cell phone to twitter and goodreads! I know... it seems to be a little too much but i like to be updated and also because i would like to update while i'm away ( ... )

LOL, my current phone is a Blackberry Curve (I forgot the model number, but it's also known as Javelin). And no, I didn't get it just because of peer pressure or anything. I actually have always wanted a phone that could easily access the internet when I'm out and about, and normal phones back then allowed that too but obviously expensive, while Blackberry has internet packages that are unlimited and relatively cheap. So that's why I got one for myself ( ... )

Oh, I know that BBM is very useful. Don't think that this post is attacking ALL Blackberry Users. It's just that I think it's very sad that that the service has reduced people to actually talk when they're together and instead being too focused on the feature.

And no, I don't think your definition of high school alumnis group as elitist, as long as you remember to include people outside the group who don't use Blackberry. Sadly, I heard many from other people, where they simply get ignored or don't get information/invitation because they don't have Blackberry -- which brings me to the attention of peer pressure. If you want to be included, you need to have Blacberry. Or there are groups where the members are invitation only, ALSO only spreading information through the BBM media. That is what I meant by elitist. It just pushes people who never have intention to by Blackberry to purchase one because if not, they will always be left out.

At the moment I have a Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman cellphone but next month I'll get a Sony Ericsson Yendo Walkman cellphone.

I mainly use it for textmessages and that I can make a call in an emergency. Sometimes I also use it for music if I don't have my iPod with me.

I don't use it so much because these cellphones don't have so many functions but I don't need them. ^^ I must confess I mostly buy cheap cellphones because I don't wanna pay so much money for a new cellphone.
Maybe that'll change next year after graduation from Uni.
